Thinking Fender 1270p?.........Dont!

Powered Monitor? Great idea but man..... Fender was off the radar on this one. First of all, you can easily get past the rattling logo by wrapping string underneath it and tying it off. You would think Fender may have engineered something as simple. Im trying to stay real positive......but I cant. Spend the extra hundred and get a full blown 80W amp and it will sound tons better. If Fender were to put a little more thought into this, it would really be a big product that suits a small need.

Extremely Poor Sound-Beware

Yes...this thing is portable...which would have been nice...but pulling it out of its box I knew it was going to suck. Very light and flimsy. Planned on using it as a floor wedge for acoustic gigs but it is unusable. Absolutely horrible thin honky sound with no meat. Try to get the volume up a little and its squealing...and this is with mucho eq to try and tame the speaker for mic and acoustic guitar. No question this was a bad purchase and was returned. I never write reviews...but if you're thinking of getting one of these...think again if you have any notion of what good sound is.

You'd better have a great electrical system!

We had high hopes for these monitors, but they did not work well at all in our system, partly due to our electrical system not being very well grounded. However, we now have TC Helicon VSM-200's which are fantastic. These Fenders are very loud (have a lot of excess HISS and HUM) and the amplification is much more than it needs to be for a personal monitor, making the volume very difficult to control. Sound quality is not very good and the amp introduced significant buzz into our overall electrical system. Also had problems with feedback that I do not have now w/ the TC Helicons.

Decent Budgeted Sound

I play in an acoustic duo and these little babies fit the bill perfectly. We needed something small with decent power and we have had not a lick of trouble. Some places we play the electricity is "iffy" and we get a little buzz. We fixed this by using an instrument cable instead of a speaker cable. The size allows us to play in the smallest of venues without compromising sound....we love em'.

Not bad for the money...

For a monitor used with a small PA (solo act), it is just fine. Remove the little plastic logo that rattles and it won't drive you crazy. You get what you pay for and it is easy to carry around with my other gear.
