Perfect for Our Meetings with 150 People

Our high school basketball officials association with 150 members was looking for a portable audio system to conduct training. After thorough research on the web, we decided to purchase the Fender PA-150 (used) and Fender ST-280 Passport Stand Kit. Used the system for the first time yesterday. Easy to set up, plenty of volume, easy to control. Only drawback is the storage compartment for the mic is limited, and you cannot store the speaker wires in there if the mic & its cable are in there. It would also have been good if Fender had provided a longer cable for the MP3 hookup. However, the system worked just perfectly, and Musicians Friend has just terrific customer service people, along with the best price compared to the other vendors recommended on the Fender web site.

Okay, the passport was the first PA system I have ever used. Not to bad looking back at it. It was one of the PA systems in my high school music class. It with stood all of the morons messing with it, and dropping it, so I would recommended it to any, ANY highschool band. When we did a show out in Long Beach, CA, we dropped it down at least a flight of stairs, worked fine. It does get a little "iffy" past 7, but i would recommended this for any one starting off, or a veteran musicain looking for something reliable, but won't shatter the windows loud. Thank you Fender.

Extremely portable and compact (great for cramming drums, guitars, stands and this system into one van). In fact, the day before a major gig (400+), our bassist dropped it down a flight of wooden stairs. we tested it out, and it was working perfectly fine! only problem is that it cannot handle the bass very well when cranked past 7, so low notes are too quiet when in front of a large crowd

a toy...

I was so excited when I first saw the Passport. Finally, a truly portable sound system for solo artists or small combos. So why did Fender scrimp on the most essential features?

First, the sideways layout of the console with it's silly preschool-toy knobs is confusing, but only ONE EQ knob per channel? Come on, that's simply not adequate for anyone who cares about sound quality.

And even the master channel has only low and high EQ (no mid).

If you're playing acoustic guitar, forget it unless you've got outboard EQ and a good pickup. Your typical under-saddle piezo pickup will sound buzzy and nasal through this rig.

Fender could have put smaller knobs and arranged them vertically (sheesh!) with 3-bands per channel and at least a 5-band graphic EQ on the master, and this probably would have been a worthwhile product. As it is, it's a toy.

Sorry Fender, you blew it this time.

Exactly what I needed

THis product was exactly what I was looking for. I have had it for about a year now and I use it everywhere that my church has to go and sing. I run my computer through it as well for just playing CD's. I have to setup and break down a full drumset when I go places and this allows me to have a PA system with minimal setup and breakdown.
