PERFECT PA AND MIXER

Firstly, don't listen to people who don't own this Fender Passport and write reviews -- they cannot be objective and they don't use the product. I have had the PA for two years, and it's brilliant. It's loud, crip, and hits the lows and high accurately. I use it both as a solo/duo acoustic act and as a DJ set. It works both ways, and does a brilliant job. It takes very little space, but with the speaker stands (which I have), it looks and sounds impressive. The mixer is great and easy to use -- it offers endless options for smalls bands, and even has RCA inputs for backing tracks or a DJ set. Read the reviews of those who own it, and disregard the rest.

I typically am a hobby musician, this has been set up in my garage for acoustic guitar, electric piano and harmony for me and my cousin. The unit was brought to a community center for a one musical number. It turns out the DJ's amp was not working so he asked if we could plug it in. WE were blown away. This hall was hosting 250 people and the we sound checked and could'nt believe our ears. The music was crisp, with a little tweaking, bass was surpisingly loud and the guests kept wondering where the music, so clear, was coming from. I proudly said it was only a backup to a failed system, but they were non believers..That time was a success, what more can I say?

I purchased the pd-500 some months ago, it is an excellent unit. I perform in an acoustic duo two to four times a week. It has fit perfectly in every venue, inside small to larger rooms and outside as well. Sometimes people will make a review of a product without ever even really trying it. I assure you this p.a. gets the job done with great fidelity and ease of transport and set-up. It far surpassed my partners set-up so we use the passport instead. I'd rather have to move it myself than play through his! I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Portable Rig to Go!

I haven't just heard about the PD-500. I OWN it! That having been said, I have used it for numerous gigs and this thing does all it says and more. All the cables store neatly in the on board compartment and this thing sounds great with some good condenser mics, (I use Audio-Technica ATM-710's). Great sound, quality FX features and easy set up make it the choice for working musicians. Celestion speakers are used extensively in the industry for sound fidelity and lightness.
I've seen other musicians with a junky, mismatched rig. It does NOT look professional. They also go back to their vehicle 2-3 times just to get everything. I put this bad boy on a Rock n' Roller Cart and I'm there! Get a cover to keep it looking new and you'll be set.

Nice idea, bad design and parts

A portable system like this is a nice idea. Too bad fender uses cheap celestion speakers, cheap imported amp components in this otherwise nifty package. Fender makes guitars and some good old-style tube amps. They are an industry giant in that respect. But they have NEVER made decent PA equipment, and they obviously do not care to.
