With Mount And Windscreen In Case, Left-facing Accessories Case, Closed, Left-facing Case, Closed, Right-facing Frequency Response

Heil's PR-20 professional dynamic cardioid microphone is designed for commercial broadcast, recording, and live sound reinforcement applications. Smooth, flat response over a wide frequency response. That, combined with an excellent transient response and low IMD, result in gorgeous, natural speech articulation without having to apply heavy equalization.

The PR-20's dynamic element is mounted into a special sorbothane shockmount system for extremely low handling noise. This low handling noise and the lack of bass-boosting proximity effect makes it ideal for professional uses.

The PR-20 achieves its exceptional performance by using a special magnet structure and a 1-1/8" aluminum, low-mass voice coil assembly. Special attention has been paid to the phasing plug assembly, with equally placed ports that sense out-of-phase audio from behind the source. The result is a very linear cardioid pattern, a reduction of the proximity effect, and smooth articulation across the mic's response range.

The PROLINE element is usable in extremely high SPLs and is immune to overload conditions. Leatherette carrying bag, mic clip, and foam windscreen included.

I have never sounded this good

Used this Mic for the first time last night . I have used Sennheiser, Shure, AKG, and Carvin .I ran the mic through a Digitech vocal300 and was just completly blow away by the sound of this mic. My wife made the comment "Honey you sounded awesome " when some one who knows nothing about sound or equipment says "I could tell the diffrence" thats when you have a good product p's and t's are to me not as bad as i have had on other mics. For the money i truly could not believe how well this mic performed and the carry case and cool caps are a plus. You have to be close on the mic back ups are closer than your use to but hell its designed that way it picks up your vocals and not all the noise around you. I would say to anyone i know if your a singer for the price and quality you cant go wrong with this mic thanks Heil for really comeing through with a mic i want soon put down ..

Too Much Handling Noise

Been using EV mics for years. Wanted something hotter, smoother, etc. The Heil is gorgeous, feels good and sounds great. But the handling noise is unreal! Cant have this on stage. Back to the EV 767.

I gigged with this mic for the first time last night and was thoroughly impressed. I've been singing through 58s for many years and figured it was time to upgrade. Immediatly I noticed a huge difference in the fullness and presence of the sound. Through my in ear system, it sounded like I was in the studio. After singing a few ballads, I was sold. The epressivness that you can project with this baby will improve your performance--IF you're a singer.

You gotta really mind your Ps and Ts or you'll have a nasty, ugly boom. That's gonna take a little getting used to. But the response of the mic makes it well worth it. If I didn't know and better, I'd think I was singing through a condenser. That is until I got 6 inches away from it.

The cardoid pattern on this mic is very tight. You wanna be right on it (one of the reasons the "poppiness"). Backups at about 3 to 4 inches away. I can see how this mic would be awesome for snare drum. I'll have to try that some day.

As for durability, I'll let you know in a year. The grill doesn't seem to be all that heavy gauge, so I'll be handing this mic with care.

Anyways, I'll be ordering another for my very jealous guitarist. Maybe I'll get him the Pink Pearl. ;)

Nice Mic!!

I used to have an Audix 2 until I had problems with the male conectors of the mic. I then purchased this Heil Mic and it has been one "Heil" of a microphone! I use it to rehearse and to play out and it delivers a great warm sound comperable if not better than the Audix 2! If there is a problem with this mic for me, it would be that it can be so sensitive that you could use a pop filter on certain P's and T's. Other than that, I'm happy with the product and will check out other Heil products as they are needed! Thanks Heil!!

Sweet Mic

I was testing this mic and recorded vocals and acoustic guitar with it. (in a professional studio, mind you) This sounds awesome on vocals. It's got a bump up at 3kHz to cut through on stage. I eq-ed that out for the studio vocals and it was flat and smooth. It actually sounded pretty good on a mono recording of acoustic guitar. The transient response is a little better than most dynamics, but you aren't going to hear every little nuance as with a condenser. But I actually prefer that on vocals. The room I was in had a node at about 200Hz, but it didn't get picked up in the mic. So if you are doing home recordings and don't have an acoustically treated room and don't want to "hear" the room, this would also be ideal, because of the off axis rejection and such. I was using the preamp on the Focusrite Control 24 and had it actually cranked all the way, so your preamp better have some gain to it. Unless you are putting it on snare or electric guitar cabs, of course. Overall, I'm happy I got it and would like to try it in a live setting.
