Don’t get me wrong, the JBL JRX115 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet IS probably the greatest sounding set of speakers I’ve ever owned but, unless you want to sink a lot of money on the right Power amp, the right TRS or Speakon cables, and the right crossover if you’re running Subs. Then I would maybe think twice about this specific model. JBL’s always been known for its sound but lacks a little on its quality. I’ve had to replace the HF driver in my set about 3 times in one year. Make sure you run them @ 8ohms nothing more nothing less. If you need to use them for a huge venue, skip out and borrow somebody else’s speakers or rent something DO NOT USE THESE FOR BIG VENUES! Even the most talented sound guy will blow your HF drivers. I know, I’ve had 2 different sound techs and 1 rookie make the same mistake. These are meant to be more for Mid-range be careful if you use them as specially as your high or low cabs. You can order HF drivers on the web fairly cheap but the hassle of putting them in gets old really quick. I mean for the sound there are very few other than Bose that come close to the cleanliness. But if you’re looking for something that can handle the juice then I’d do some more homework before buying these.

Good Low End but Horrible Horns

I have a pair of these. I've owned them for nearly 1 year. They are an OK budget Front of House speaker with good bottom end. Yes if you overpower them, the crossovers will glow. They are suppose to do that. The main problem with these speakers is that the horn drivers are terrible. What you will need to do is replace the stock horn driver with something better. I put Selenium Horn Drivers D220s in mine and now they can REALLY handle the 500 watts no problem. You can also use the Selenium D210s. Also, with the stock horn drivers, the horns in these cabs make a honking sound as you get close to top end. However, putting the heavier driver on the horn has also resolved this problem. Also, you will open the top end up from 16khz to 20khz. It will be like a veil has been lifted from your high ends and the crossovers will stop glowing at least up to 575 watts that I am now driving them with. So if you are going to go for these, do it because once you upgrade the horn drivers, these cabs sound awesome. I was disappointed at first when I blew my horn drivers, but for $70 bucks you can make these babies sound great.

In the 6 months I have owned these speakers they have been in the shop 3 times, both for blown bottom and top ends. I run them with a QSC 1804 and use them mainly for vocals in a jazz/motown group. (Not real loud) During the time these have been in the shop, (most of the time) I have used an old pair of Peavy International 115s and have had no problem at all with them.

I have owned these for over a year now and put them through some vigorous road use in medium clubs andhave had no problems with them at all. I use them with my band and also my dj set up. when playing smaller shows I use them stand alone, and on larger gigs i pair them up with some m-pro 18" subs and could not be happier, all in all they sound better than any peavey , sonic , or yamaha speakers that i have owned. thats my two cents , take it for what it is. , rock on

I have owned these speakers for almost 1year. In that time frame I have replaced the horn drivers twice. After the second time I finally removed some old 22a drivers from a peavey cabinet I have not used in several years. On several occassions I have gone out in the crowd to listen and saw something glowing in the cabinet. It turned out to be the crossover wiring . I finally took my old peavey's out of storage. I always heard JBL is the best so much for the best. I'll never trade in my old reliables for JBL again. They sound great but can't hold up to regular road use.
