Love or hate them

Pro sound guys HATE the JRX line. Why? They simply do not sound as good as the upper JBL series or many other high-end speakers. I own the entire JRX line from cabs to subs. I use them for hardcore mosh pit music. They work fine for that. These speakers are very bright, however. They push the highs forward. This is kind of cool when your program material is yelling, growling, and cookie monster vocals. People want the china to shatter their ears. BUT if your material is more subtle you won't like these. A-B them with the SRX or MRX series and you will imediately hear the difference. The MDF construction requires you to keep them very dry and handle them gently. I needed to get up and running and learn how to run a PA without spending big $ on speakers. I run FOH/monitors on xti amps along with Drive Rack PAs and dBx compressors. The bands say they like the sound, fans like it, so I am good for now. I DO plan on going with the better JBL line someday. If you can't afford better, consider these.

Careful.. they break

I own a pair of these JBLs and use them mostly for full band performance-running kick, snare, guitars, bass, vocals, and everything else. Apparently after a certain show the lower 15" speaker on one of the cabs got overpowered and stopped putting out completely. Keep in mind I was running these with a crown amp at 1850 watts bridged between the two of them... the amp wasn't peaking during the entirety of the show AND I was running a sub w/ crossover too. So I took the broken cab in and the electrician said it was definitely from over powering. Fortunately my sub makes up for any lows lost with this lower speaker, but its still a shame because JBL's warranty doesn't cover abuse. over than there fragile state, these cabs do a great job with clarity and loudness in general. If you are going to get these BE CAREFUL and watch your levels closely, especially around the mid-low to low frequencies.. consider a limiter. Goodluck!

I've only had these for 6 months or so but have used them for a full band setup 4 times. With the right eq, these jbl's are brilliant. The coverage is fantastic as the volume remains consistent when you are 10' or 50' away. Great for handling a lot at once. Low end is lacking, I'd definitely reccomend an 18" sub + crossover. Great speakers overall!

These speakers will last you a lifetime. I have own them for more than 5 years. I used them as my band's main PA system over a pair of 18" DAS sub-woofers and as my DJ gear. The tweeters will never go out. You will simply sound great. You won't regret it.
