I have two that I use as FOH over single 718s in small to medium venues. On the big gigs I use them as monitors when I use 722s for FOH. They are ice-water clean and handle a lot of power. I also use them on poles with a single 718 against a wall in pubs. I would compare the set up to a Bose Acoustimass... a solid sub on the wall with relatively small, crystal clear main speakers spread out for maximum clarity. I drive them with a Crown XTi4000. As you might expect of a 12" mon, they lack the extra measure of lows for heavy bass and kick drum that you get with 15s. Otherwise, vocals and guitars are crisp and full bodied. They are light and easy to carry and set up, lighter and smaller than the JRX112s I also have. Two especially nice touches are the passive/biamp switch giving me the ready option of biamp/triamp scenarios; and a speakon jack on each end of the cabinets, which is very convenient when mounted on a pole. The cabinet is smartly designed to allow for angle on the floor, standing upright or flat on its side, or pole mount. They are expensive and I broke my piggy bank to get them, but the quality of sound and convenience of the new SRX designs...well, I like to believe they're worth it. I won't need to upgrade for ... forever!

After years of piecing together a monitor system, I took the leap and bought 6 of these guys used. They are stunning. My band mates love them. Everything is clear, no distortion, no frizziness, all the instruments and vocals have a clear representation without covering each other up. Stunning.

I recently upgraded one of my stage monitor systems to the JBL SRX712M and am very happy with their performance. They are very loud and clear and excel at reproducing vocals. Their versatility is awsome. I've used them as single monitors and as mirrored pairs with the horns on the outside. I've also used them on poles for small PA reinforcement and as front fill speakers on larger shows. One note, they do require a good amount of power to get them to shine.

This is a very high quality box with premium drivers. Similar to the EAW SM200, only the JBL's are more flexible. The sound is very natural and exceptionally well balanced when run passively. I haven't biamped them yet. They require very little eq to get them loud. As a main front speaker for small acoustic or duo acts an eq probably isn't even necessary. I can't think of a speaker that compares on size and features that doesn't cost at least 50% more. At 33lbs they're great if you move equipment by yourself. They need power! More is better! At a bare minimum, run them with an amp that is rated 750w at 8 Ohms.
