For the price, the RP-5s are hard to beat. They do tend to struggle with some midrange frequencies, especially with acoustic piano patches in Logic, etc. Other than that, the sound is clear and crisp. And as an added bonus, they're damn good-looking!

Alot of what you hear coming from your speakers depends on the room that your in. Certain things in the room can either reflect specific frequency waves thus magnifying them making them sound "too much" and other things in the room can absorb certain freqencies so that they seem "not there" in the mix. So you need a good room to get an accurate sound with these monitors

The truth is these speakers say they go down to 53hz which is not really true and if it does. you cant really feel its there. their hot spot usually ends around the 80hz range. Put these speakers on a stand, face them in the length wise direction of your room and perferably at a window if its there and you can get leas reflections and more the actually speakers.

I was very dissapointed with these monitors when I first purchased them. After I remodeled my control room, and raised the monitors up off the desk I learned it wasn't the monitors that sounded bad it was my room... and desk lol. I am truly blown away at the clairty of these monitors. I've tested them with a tone generator, and they acurately recreate the frequency range the claim to on the box. So all in all great monitors, just pay more attention to the environment they are in. They are absolutely worth every penny you'll pay for them.

I was in a tie between these and the Yamaha hs50m monitors. The quality was nothing to be blown away about. They have a very balanced frequency between the lows and highs. I could hear a lot of underlying tracks in professionally mixed songs. They are for mixing not for pleasure...I would recommend these most definitely if this is your price range...
