Ive had the koss pro4aaT 4 around a half of a year. They are great. It is true that they are rather heavy, and they need a real source of power(i.e. not an ipod or somethin, but a mixer or recorder). I have another pair of koss headphones. They are good, but nothing compares to these. The old ones my band would use were some sharper image ones, that only feel good on your ears, but produce terrible sound. They cut out the low end so much. I got these from a raffle, and all I have to say is, recording and mixing has never been the same. They are definitely worth way more than this price.

Real Studio Cans on a Budget

OK, guys - these things require real power and are a little heavy (just like real pro studio monitor headphones). Your walkman, or the headphone jack on your 8 channel mixer won't cut it.

If you're looking for a good flat monitor to record with that will handle the big output of DAWs without distorting and crackling - HERE THEY ARE.

They outperform Sonys that I paid 4x as much for; without muddy bass masking the track I'm recording. Crisp & clean. I get less bleed into the mic when recording vocals than with any other set (4) I've owned in the last two years - so they do seal well.

No complaints - just productivity. They require about a 3 month burn-in period to get their true sound; so plug 'em up and leave running awhile.

Poor sound quality

These headphones are heavy and don't seal well around one's head well. They are supposed to be isolated but without a good seal like was advertised, I'm afraid I cannot give them a good review. They are built using many parts, small screws and rubber trim and such, and I can't see why they went through all the trouble to engineer such an attractive headphone without paying more attention to the sound quality. They sound like you are listening through a sea shell, peak in the midrange, poor bass response -I was disappointed. I owned a pair of Koss headphones when I was much younger and they were great, these are not the Koss that I remember.

Good Headphones

These Koss classics are a good set of headphones. Though they are heavy (over a pound), they produce excellent sound quality and are perfect for recording studio applications or simply kicking back and listining to some soft jazz. I feel that the Pro 44A T model (this is the old fashioned looking one) is better than this model, simply because of its retro look and nice feel. I have had experience with both models, and both produce overall good sound. One final thing to note: that cute little picture shows the ear seals as being "inflated" round cushions. They are a SOFT material called pneunolamite that is almost like a gel around your ears. The ear cushions are not hard plastic as they may appear in the picture!!

Typically Koss

I owned a Koss pro/4x plus for about 20 years. But since it didn't quite function the way it should (electrical malfunction), I have been searching for a replacement for many years. And I just couldn't find one!. I tried so many models and brands but I could not make a decision to buy another one. Until I met this one. At last another headphone that fulfills my needs again. Though it wears heavily and you'll get the typical Koss-red-ears, the quality is simply magnificent. Once a Koss, never anything else!!!
