Excellent for their intended use

I bought a set of these about 6 months ago to use with an old (mid 80's) EV 6 channel powered mixer. I use them for a solo show and open mic jam session with vocals, acoustic guitar(s), banjo, sometimes keyboards/drum machine. They sound good, are lightweight with comfortable handles, seem to fit well on stands. I also use them as vocal stage monitors when I play with a band - They work well for that application too. Keep in mind that these are small speakers intended for small venues. You can't power a metal band in an arena with them!!!

As a comparison, one of the venues I play has a Fender PD500 as a house system. My system has crisper highs, fuller bass and more volume. There is enough of a difference that I will bring my own rather than use theirs.

When I was starting my own band, I had to buy all the PA equipment on my own in order to get guys to want to join. I wanted to cover all the bases but stay within a budget that wouldn't get me thrown out of my girlfriends house. I bought 2 of these about a year ago and they are still performing great. I use them in stereo with 2 KPC 15s powered by a Behringer PMP5000 mixer down to 4ohms a side. A little muddy at higher volumes, I installed a BBE Sonic Maximizer and the horns came alive, along with all the other elements of the frequency spectrum. We run the drums through this set up with 2 18 subs powered seperately, the kick drum hits hard through these with no distortion and will pound your chest if standing in front of them, just don't power your Bass guitar through the board with too much preamp or they will distort terribly. Otherwise they will perform great for small to medium clubs. I stack the 12's on the 15's and then onto the 18's, in doing this I have great coverage, although the 12 cabinets vibrate across and will fall off the stack so I ratchet strap them all down, this also keeps the drunks from knocking over the whole stack. Also if you happen to blow on of the drivers, they are cheap enough to just by new ones, fortunately they have been holding up good so far.

I have had a pair of these for about a year or two now and I love them. The only problem is that if you try to blast the bass on them, you well get a "humm" noise. Other than that, these are great for a small garage band or a DJ taking off!

Great for a small solo act

I do a solo acoustic guitar and vocal show, and these work great for me. The construction is solid, they sound pretty good when I play recorded music through them during my breaks, they're easy to fit in the trunk of a mid-sized sedan, and you can't beat the price. I got mine a year ago, and they have parallel speaker connections, so I think if you bought four of them, you could put two on a side and put a 4 ohm load on the amp. I wouldn't try to use them as the mains for a full band, but for a small act like mine they're just fine.
