4-channel USB audio/MIDI interface with dbx preamps, Lexicon reverb, and more. |
Brilliantly designed, the I-ONIX U42S recording interface from Lexicon fits where it makes the most sense, between your keyboard and monitor. Lexicon understands you care passionately about your music, and that it's more than just a pastime, which inspired them to create the I•ONIX U42S, putting all monitor and input level controls at your fingertips.
Featuring dbx microphone preamps on every channel, the I•ONIX series recording interfaces are more than equipped to provide professional recordings that keep your music sounding its best. the preamps on this u42 rock! the tonal character of them is worth the cost just for the preamps..plus you get a great interface.
I have been using it to track live and my FOH guy says he loves that the meters and controls are right there..plus we have a great sound

I just downloaded the latest version of the 64-bit Vista drivers on 8/14/09 - and now I can finally get everything to work! Recording, playback through iTunes, you name it!
I had the beta drivers (which worked sporadically) and I was about to toss this thing until Lexicon came through with these drivers. Thank you!

This is a horrible interface, actually it's the worst I have ever used. It's nearly impossible to record with this thing. It constantly clips at even the lowest volume possible, which means you cannot record or even listen to anything because it won't stop crackling & popping. It's too bad because the unit looks sick.

Potential, but not there yet

This unit has great potential, but suffers from some serious flaws that Lexicon has been unwilling to fix. Feature-wise it's decent with an array of inputs and options, however the omission of a power switch is a mistake. The unit runs hot and uses a decent amount of electricity so it's necessary to unplug it between sessions. The biggest faults have to do with the software. Not a day goes by where i don't have to unplug and replug the unit to get it to work the way it's supposed to. It constantly switches modes or refuses to output sound. Doesn't work reliably on my Mac with numerous programs, including Firefox and iChat. Months later and all Lexicon has done is closed down their forum to stop the complaints. Hopefully new firmware will be released eventually, but i'm not holding my breath.

Sorry, no Windows 2000, XP, or Vista 64 bit support. C'mon, 64 bit Windows systems have been around for almost 10 years now. All threads on the Lexicon site related to 64 bit support have been deleted.
