Got this so I could record with Garageband. It takes a little figuring out, but, it does work well. You have to make sure to set your output to the GX and plug your headphones in it. Also, go into the sound filter in Garageband and change it from the standard tones to PodFarm. Presto! You are recording perfect tone. It does only use about half of the presets. Most ones left out involve newer hotrod metal amps, so if you want to shred, buy the next package up. If you are happy with standard Marshall, Fender (Bassman and Deluxe), Vox, and Mesa amps, this is the cheapest way to lay down perfect tone.

I went to go get the UX1 the next model up in the line, but it was out of stock so I got this one instead. The lack of an XLR input is fine as you can get 1/4" input mics or adapters to record vocals, however, the UX1 includes more effects. This is and issue because a bunch of the presets involve the effects available in the better models so half the presets are unusable. However the effects included are versatile and you can always hook up your own pedals too. The real winner here is Ableton Live Lite which is worth as much as the rest of the package, you can use ableton for all kinds of recording functions. Overall it's a nice package and well worth the $99 price tag. Wish it wasn't made of plastic though. I'd recommend the UX1 just for the extra effects though.

Until I purchased this little unit! Made pretty tough and the sounds! Amazing! This is about $50,000 worth of "virtual" gear! And with very credible sound as well! Here's a little secret. Although, this GX version is the basic version, you can use it with your regular guitar amp as well! Buy a 3.5 mini plug to 1/4 inch adapter and plug it in the headphone jack. Plug a guitar cord into the adapter and then into your guitar input. Plug your guitar in the front of the unit as usual. The sounds will "floor you"! Most of the emulations are spot on! I could never afford all these effects, noise gates, amps and gear any other way. On the downside, I havent been able to get the ableton software up and running. But, I got digital quality recordings with the free audacity and kristal recording software online. All in all, this is a excellent unit. I have owned it about 3 weeks and still havent tried all the combinations. Its mind boggling the sound you can get with this. I recommend it highly to anyone on a budget who would like to expand their sound palette and experiment with recording! Its so much fun, it should be illegal! lol

I heard about the Pod Farm and 1st thought it to good to be true. Here I am, after using it for 6 months and let me tell you, I'm really surprised! I'm usually a tradionalist with just about everyway/thing in life, but the Pod is one exception I'm happy I made. Can't go wrong purchasing it.

I have been playing guitar since1987 and let me tell you - Line 6 has REVOLUTIONIZED guitar playing. I could never have dreamed of something like POD Farm back when I first started banging out AC/DC and Iron Maiden tunes by ear and playing in friend's garage parties and barbecues... amp modeling has finally done it - those high dollar, high maintenance, 40-year old tube amp designs of the old days are OBSOLETE.
