The M-Audio Delta 44 Digital Recording System features 24-bit/96kHz converters that are the envy of the audio card community! The Delta 44 offers the same features and high performance as the Delta 66, but is designed for the user who does not require digital I/O.

Like its big brother, the Delta 44 s breakout box handles four balanced/unbalanced, +4dBu or -10dBV analog inputs and outputs. You get the same 24-bit/96kHz fidelity, industry-standard driver support, and bulletproof operation found across the entire Delta family.

36-bit Embedded DSP All Delta cards contain 36-bit embedded DSP enabling a software-driven patchbay/router for all analog and digital I/O all with extremely fast throughput for low-latency software monitoring. A single unified control panel provides settings for clock and sample rates, buffer sizes, individual signal levels for every input and output, and adjustable +4dBu/-10dBV pad controls. All controls are also easily accessible through most professional audio software applications for seamless integration and operation.

M-Audio Delta 44 Digital Recording System Features:

  • 4x4 24-bit/96kHz full-duplex recording interface
  • Configured as a PCI host card with external audio breakout box
  • All data paths support up to 24 bit/96kHz performance, no upgrades necessary
  • Powerful digital mixing, routing, and monitoring capabilities
  • accepts balanced or unbalanced connections on 1/4" tip-ring-sleeve (TRS) jacks
  • Zero-latency monitoring
  • Analog I/O configurable for +4dB or -10dB signal levels

Need a great sounding audio interface without digital I/O? The Delta 44 is only a call or click away!

Perfect

I have three Deltas (getting ready to purchase a fourth for a total of 16 inputs) and I love them. I have never experienced any problems with my cards, but there are some things to consider before purchasing one.

First, if want to record instruments or microphones (anything not already at line level) you WILL NEED external preamps, or else you won't get a signal when you try to record. (This is because the Delta only converts the signal; it doesn't amplify of modify it in any other way.) I typically use ART Tube MP Studio preamps, which are cheap and work great for this purpose.

Also, if you are intending to use more than one of these cards simultaneously (recording 8 tracks at once, for instance), you will need software that can handle multiple interfaces. Most pro DAW software will work fine, but programs like Audacity will only be able to record from one card at a time.

Like I said, I love these things; they are perfect. If you are serious about digital recording, get some Deltas.

I own a Delta66. I am adding a Delta44 to upgrade to 8 tracks. Pro quality sound, installation is a breeze, and it works as good or better as all the other interfaces I have used. Works with Pro Tools and you can't beat the price. Why buy anything else ?

I had been researching the cheapest way to record with 4 inputs while using protools, and came across this. Was extremely easy to setup and has worked flawlessly so far. I have an older computer and I still have no latency problems at all. It still needs a preamp for mics, but the delta 44 itself is crystal clear quality. Stay clear of the Delta 1010LT, the rca jacks are a waste. The delta 66 is also a waste considering they gave you digital inputs that you'll never use. I highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a small protools studio setup.

This is the best sound card for the price. I had this card for about 4 years and I have never had a problem with it under ardour/linux or cakewalk/windows xp. I have never experienced "pops". If you were to buy a card with xlr-ins and built-in pre-amps, it would cost you over $700. I wish people would research their gear more before they purchase. This is a great card. As long as you have the appropriate recording software and preamps...you won't find one better for the price. I use the Delta 44 to record from my 8 track reel-to-reel into my computer and I'm about to buy another one to get the full 8-ins.

the transient response is absolutely ruler flat(i tested it.) a complaint i hear a lot from peole who use it is that it clicks during recording, but this is easily fixed by increasing the audio buffer just a little in the delta's control panel. this is the best value i've found so far in cards. i'v used mine for three years.

note1: if you have a new computer, you may have to remove your phone modem to install it, because it requires a PCI slot (found in older computers.)

note2: you need to buy a boutique (external) preamp for it.
