Ableton Live Lite
Ableton Live Lite delivers much of the functionality of Ableton Live—the revolutionary, multi-award winning music production solution that allows you to spontaneously compose, record, remix, improvise, and edit your musical ideas in a seamless audio/MIDI environment. Live brings your acoustic, electronic, and virtual instruments—as well as your digital audio recordings and MIDI sequences—together in a single interface with unparalleled ease of use.
Ableton Live Lite 7 sports up to eight tracks, more effect instances, an enhanced audio engine, 64-bit mix summing, multiple time signatures, new and improved devices, side-chaining, refined MIDI timing and more.
Live s Session View acts as a musical sketch and launch pad, encouraging you to try out new ideas and improvise freely. Each cell in the Session View grid can hold a loop, recording, MIDI file, complete song or any other musical element. These ideas can be recorded on the fly or dragged in from the Browser, combined and played in any order you wish.
The Arrangement View offers a timeline-based approach for traditional recording, MIDI sequencing, arranging, editing, and other musical production tasks. And when you improvise in the Session View, all of your actions can be recorded into the Arrangement View, where they can be edited and perfected whenever you like.

I bought this thing hoping to be able to record. It came with the wrong software and has never worked quite right. I got the right software off of the companies web site and got about half of it to work. The customer service from the company is essentially nil. I won't be buying any products from them again.

Just got this in the mail yesterday and I've been using it like crazy. This thing is the best. You can practically record a whole cd with acoustic and vocals with this thing. Especially for the price this thing is BEAST!!! I use it with acoustica mixcraft and works wonderfully. Just plug and play!!!!

Picked one up a week ago. was going to get the fast track pro, but didnt need the extra inputs. The sound quality is pretty good. 24 bit 48khz stream gives u good clarity. With the asio drivers active you get pretty low latency wich boggled me when i read reviews on how people were having latency and "clicks and pops" problems. dont listen to them, they either have A) not enough ram or B) dont know much about pc recording and forget to enable the ASIO. or C) their computer sucks in general. I have yet to have to turn the latency up even when a ton of FX and vst's are running. My computer isnt even all that fast. dual core intel, 4 gigs of ram, windows vista. if you want to get your feet wet, and get decent results out of your recordings id recommend it. def. worth the money.

I have been working as a local producer for quite some time and have performed many different types of recording techniques... this being the best one. I have used it on pro tools apps, adobe audition, cubase and sonar and it gets the job done! No it does not compare to the mbox when you are running pro tools and if I had to do it all over again I think i would have saved a lil more money and went with a fire-wire interface. like I said it gets the job done and is reliable the only thing i do not like about it is is it does not have phantom power.. nice for the price but save and and get fire-wire or mbox if running pro tools

If all you want is one input to get your signal to your daw or computer recording program, and have a tiny budget, this thing is not too bad. I have used it to make many DJ demo cds and the quality of sound I got out of it was actually surprising for the price I paid. There is some latency issue for me though, and when I upgraded my monitors to KRK Rokit 8's I started getting alot of noise from it.
