Crapped out after several months

I rated this 4.0 for features, because when it worked, it was pretty good. I used this at home for several months, never used or abused it. It sat on top of my computer and was never bumped, dropped. I recently bought a second microphone (MXL 604, which I like) and it worked in channel two quite well. Suddenly channel two craps out.

Cheap gear made in China is no bargain. Would rather pay more for better quality - how about made in USA?- that lasts longer than a few short months. I rated this WORST for Quality, Value, Overall.

Solved my Windows 7 issues

I was recording directly through the sound card and began having significant issues when I upgraded to a Windows 7 PC. This little unit made all of that go away in true plug-and-play fashion. Very low noise levels on recordings, nice controls and some good basic I/O connections. Worked first time out of the box and no issues through several weeks of use. It's a keeper.

This is a gem of a product. I primarily use it with Garage Band on a MacBook, and it just works. I am able to record directly from my amps (guitar, bass, keyboard, and even my electronic drums) and lay down all the tracks with great clarity and ease. Good product, great price.

First of all, USB is the worst way to run audio in and out of your computer. You get clicks and pops which will ruin any recording. That aside, the pre's in this thing are awful... they can make a Neumann sound bad. Do yourself a favor and pass on this one.

I bought this to use with Cakewalk, Reason, and/or Ableton Live. I bought a computer and a 88es controller. Unfortunately, I have Windows Vista, and cannot for the life of me get this to work. The drivers that M-Audio have put out over the last couple of years still will not let any of the three software programs use ASIO mode, and without it, they are useless. Regular computer sounds work fine. Calls to all of the manufacturers only lead to blame of one of the others, but noone can seem to fix this issue, so I have spent all this money in vain. If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear from you!
