I just received my 990s and I love it. Great voice reproduction. It even makes this old crow sound good. I use it with a Marshall acoustic amp and a Taylor guitar( sometimes with my HD28 Martin. I am going to go with this on all my gigs unless wind is an issue. Couldn't be happier with this mic.

I doodle around with computer based recording and know that it takes thousands to get a studio like sound. I also know that my stage mics are for beans for recording. Quite surprised with this mic. good value. Don't know how it will stand up but I don't intend to abuse it. Got the pre amp. Yeah, that helps a lot. Thinking of getting one of the other models for guitar and bass. Anyway. Funstuff

Mic is satisfactory, shockmount is terrible

The mic does its job, i am by no means incredibly discerning about it. However the shockmount won't hold up to the most gentle use. Especially when mounted upside down for an overhead drumset application. The band won't stay on the handles and the entire frame is bent. Just use the swivel mount that comes with it.

Decent but...

The mic has very little low end, yet manages to have a lot of proximty effect. Its a good mike for someone with a deep toned voice or instrument. It is way too bright for a singer with an already bright sounding voice. It is a VERY hot mike for the price and great for live applications. I bought four of them (they are not very sturdy). If you want a profesional sound, this mic is not exactly the cream of tho crop.

Well, for starters this mic does tend to distort at low db signals. I have this product and use it on a daily basis in my recording studio. But that problem can easily be fixed with a mic preamp to give the mic a higher signal tolerance. Simply plug the mic into a pre and then gate it and then compress and then you're in! Ba Da Bing ba Da Boom!!!
