I bought this mixer to replace a very disappointing Yamaha and am really glad I picked this one. The mixer is built true to Mackie "built like a tank" standards and sounds great. The XDR2 preamps are nice and warm, but not overly so. I only wish they would put the Perkins EQ in it. There are better mixers out there but nothing anywhere near the same pricepoint. I would buy another one in a heartbeat. Mackie support is excellent. They understand that you aren't making money when equipment is down and do everything possible to minimize that time. You won't be sorry with this one.

I have used the 1402 VLZ pro for years without any problems. So when I went looking for a mixer for myself, I looked really hard at the Mackie. It was between this one and an Onyx 1220. Ultimately I found this mixer's pres more apropos for live use. The Onyx had ultimately warmer pres but the 1402 seemed plenty warm and well-rounded. A year later, I haven't had one problem out of it and love it just as much as day one. The price is moderately high, but in terms of value, it's near unbeatable. Sure, the Allen&Heath is ultimately a better sounding mixer, but for 3x the price. Just buy one, you won't regret it.

I have used this mixer for a while now, this has excellent sound. We run it through an 828 motu fire wire processor then to our G4 it is great. Amazing sound and preamps also works great with studio condenser mic.
