I purchased these monitors for my home studio and was debating between the MR5 and MR8. I'm glad I chose the MR5 simply because they pack a lot of punch for a small monitor. The sound quality is awesome, especially on lower frequencies. You can't go wrong with these monitors in this price range. Make the purchase,you won't regret it.

These monitors are absolutely brilliant! They sound wonderful and the price is equally impressive. Your mixes will be crystal-clear, and casual music listening will be beautiful through the MR5s. I have owned my MR5s for about a year now and they still sound as good as the day I bought them. For me, two things set this monitor apart from others in its class, and even the next class up (like the M-Audio BX8a): sound stage and bass response. If you listen to the BX8a or KRK RP8, you'll notice a distinct lack of commanding bass. Its there, but it sounds like its happening somewhere far away. The sound stage on those monitors tends to be very generic and unremarkable. Not so for the Mackie MR5 or MR8. Even if you have better monitors like the HR624 you will be stunned at the bass response on the diminutive MR5. Which is not to say that its overpowering, these are quite flat in response but the bass is finally there. Instruments have more character across the stage and you get a fullness of sound that makes you wonder how these are so cheap. Of course they won't stand up to the HR series or KRK VXT series, but you get what you pay for - only with the MR5 you don't have to settle for "poor" sound, just "not as good." I would recommend these to any beginner studio musician or audiophile. You will not be disappointed.

I did some research and let musicians friend do the selling, I bought the MR5 and am 100% satisfied. its an easy decision - the best part about it is when you decide to shell out 1500 for a monitor system, you will appreciate the MR5 for getting you by in the meantime.

ive had these for a little over a year now, im pleased to say im amazed with the performace of these monitors great monitors for the price its unbeatable, i really recomend these for any use, at first i wanted em for beat makin, but they work great in a studio too
