I have been DJing for several years and have worked with various PA/DJ sounds systems. After hearing the SRM450s during various events I already knew the quality and performance. Crisp highs, tight lows, and sophisticated looks of the SRM450. I own a pair and they are pushed hard on a regular basis, but never fail. Just wish Mackie made these in 15" otherwise you will need a sub for larger venues of 300+ people or for added bass for specific genres.

I've been in the audio field (musician, audio engineer, audio contractor & consultant) for over 35 years, and have used more than a few different brands of PAs in my time. NOTHING in this price range can match the Mackie SRM450s, either in quality or power! They're light weight, and easy to set up quickly. (They offer a few control options, for those who know how to use them, but they can also be used "plug & play".) The closest match, in sound quality and power (in my opinion) are EAWs (entry-level cost about $2,000/speaker). We played a gig once, in a venue that holds about 350 people. It was a rock-style show, with matching volume, and we only had 2 SRM450s, but they didn't have any problems keeping up. (The band included 2 keyboardists, 3 guitarists - one using a Marshall 1/2 stack, bass, drums, and 6 vocalists. We were running about 90-100dB, on an open stage, using 4 monitor mixes. Basically, pretty loud!) The interesting thing about that gig is we didn't use any extra EQing, just the channel EQs (3-band, with single mid-sweeps)! In non-tech terms, I mean that these speakers will work like a champ for ANYONE, whether you know how to operate a sound system or not! That's the proof that the technology behind them was created by the best speaker builders in the world - RCF. I haven't tried the Version2 speakers yet, but I may get the chance to install them into the next church system I up-grade. Lookin' forward to checking 'em out!

I have been using these speakers for 6 years, I have used them in shows all around the world. They are tough enough to handle 2 deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, transported in armored humvees around the rough terrain and every time I set them up they work perfectly and put out enough sound to entertain hundreds of troops at a time. The sound is superb, clean crisp and great top and bottem end.

I did an 800 audience show with 4 of these baby's as front of the house speakers and it did an awsome job. Didn't even use sub woofers coz' I was on the budget... who needs a subwoofer unless you're doing hip/hop right??? I just rent one for that purpose.

They are a little expensive but are worth every penny. I had a mistake during practice and had a big feed back or pop type of sound and the speakers went out. I was like aaahhhhhh!!!... Then I turned it off and turned it back on and it was fine... The compresser driver thing or what ever it is really works to protect the speakers.

BUY THIS UNLESS YOU ARE LIKE A REALLY BIG SHOP PRO OR SOMETHING then your record lable will pay for big stuff anyways.

I've been a mobile DJ for 27 years, and have always believed that the Crown Amplifier and EV Speakers were the tops! I test drove a set of Mackie's for a Saturday Wedding, on Sunday I purchased two SRM450's and a matching powered Mackie Subwoofer. That was two years ago. I won't perform with anything else! Clean, crisp, lots of ooompf, even for the weddings of 400 people. Mackie = The Best!
