This mic sounds fantastic on vocals. It has a very warm sound unlike the harshness you get with with most other MXL mics. Its rare to find a mic that sounds this good for such a low price.

I purchased this mic a few months ago and have put it through its paces in most applications. It's found its niche as a great mono overhead, room mic, vocal mic, and acoustic guitar mic.

Most people complain that MXL mics are overly bright, but I found this mic to have just enough of a bias towards the upper mids to make any tracks really stand out in a mix.

For a little more than the price of an SM57, I'd say this is a great first condenser; and paired with a high-end preamp...it's no contest for the value.
