Well, as it is it's kinda lame. I found that the only way to get the mics to stay in position was to cannibalize some washers from a couple of old mic stands. The adapter really should have come with standard washers, but as others have noted it is somewhat cheap. Even with washers it's kind of a pain to get your mics to point where you want.

At least it doesn't take two stands to get stereo anymore!

So... Basically... you can put your microphone clip on the two screws on the side, and HOPE that it faces the right way... because if it doesn't face the right way, there's no way to change the way it faces. What I recommend (that I'm also going to do) is to file/drill out the hole to get rid of the threads in the hole (the hole on the plate) - then, it should work just fine.

Not bad for the price. I'll buy more.

This is a poorly engineered product.

First, the horizontal bar can tilt forward and backward. That's good because you may want to do that. But the bolt holding it together requires two flat-head screwdrivers to tighten, and never quite gets tight enough. The mics always seem to fall forward or backward. A wing-nut assembly would be better, as would some sort of locking mechanism.

Second, there is no way to secure the mics in any particular direction. The holes in the horizontal bar are threaded, and those things which look like adjustment knobs don't actually do anything.

Of course, it's cheap. But you get what you pay for.
