I bought the package thinking they wouldnt be the best mics.... but after hooking them up to my firepod and having then set in the drums properly i was AMAZED. Kick sounds like the beta 52. Toms are great too although i suggest an SM 57 for snare and your set. The overheads get the job well done.

I got this a couple years ago and still use it today, but only because I don't have money for anything better. If you're just starting out and you just want something cheap that works, this is okay. The tom/snare mics aren't bad, but they seem to lack a certain "sizzle" that I want. The condensers are decent enough, I prefer to use them on acoustic guitar, they have a bit of a crisp sound to them, but the kick drum mic is where it really falls short. (although it looks like they've updated it since I got mine a couple years ago, so they may have improved it). It is nearly impossibly to get any kind of bass out of your kick drum, it usually just ends up being a very dull "THUD".

I bought these mics about a year ago, and have played probably 40 gigs with them. The sound is very good. I play a 6 piece set, so I use an old SM57 for my snare, and I use the DM70s to mic the toms. I can't imagine them sounding better even if I went to all sm57s. The kick mic sounds great. It captures all of the low end and allows you to turn the highs up just a little for that "poof" sound if that's what you like. The condensors give a really bright and crisp cymbal sound.

These mics really make me sound good.
