At first glance this unit looks to be a less-expensive version of any of the BBE processors. For the most part it is. I would NOT, however, recommend this for vocal applications. Instead, if you decide to purchase it, it is a great way to tighten up any part of the kit (drum-set). With a little compression (I would recommend using a Samson S-COM Plus), this unit can really improve the sound of the kick, a pair of toms, or any of the symbols.

If you really want a vocal enhancer, or something to run your main L & R sends through (which I strongly advise you do), I recommend the BBE 8821 Sonic Maximizer. The BBE brightens and clarifies your sound amazingly well.

Use the MSE-100 for the kit. Add in some compression with the Samson S-COM Plus Get the BBE 882i for your L & R sends...you'll be set.

At first I was skeptic as to what this thing could do, but when tagged onto the end of my system's signal chain, it tightened up the sound of everything I put through it. It took the sheen off of just a regular mike or guitar line input and gave it more tone. The best way I know of how to describe this would be to say that it just gave everything a tighter sound.

Now, I've worked with a BBE 882A Sonic Maximizer (the best...) and know how much it can improve your sound. The BBE was by far the better piece of equipment, but Nady has made a respectable product. If given the choice of working with a BBE Sonic Maximizer (balanced of course....) and the Nady MSE-100A (balanced as well...) I would grab the BBE in a heartbeat...but, for the serious musician on a tight budget, the Nady is the way to go.

Quick Tip: No matter how expensive or inexpensive the equipment you are planning to buy is, always be sure that it has BALANCED INPUTS AND OUTPUTS...it'll make all the difference in the quality of your sound. (This isn't true, however, for guitar rigs, because a guitar runs an unbalanced output anyway...)
