Almost too loud!

I liked this unit because of the additional built-in amplifiers. I got it on a scratch and dent. It is very heavy, so I immediately put wheels on it. I have tried it with several different sets of speakers and the bass is always very strong, too strong with small speakers. With my smallest speakers I barely cracked the volume for the sub and it was already too loud. The amps for satellites are not very powerful. They only work well with my biggest speakers, a set of highly efficient copies of the old Altec Lansing A-7s. It sounds fantastic with those speakers, but I still only have the sub volume up to 4-5. With anything smaller or less efficient the bass is too much.

I did contact Nady because I was considering trying to modify the crossover point to a higher frequency (I would like it to be about 500hz). They responded by saying they don't support modifications of their gear. The thing is so strong I feel it would work better if it devoted some of that power to higher bass frequencies. I really only use it in big rooms or outdoors. That's really what it's suited to.

sound great fan engineering bad

this is a great sounding system, lots of punch with the variable crossover db design, but the fan engineering is bad. there is a spring loaded contact system for the fan, that rattles excessively even at moderate levels. for us,using an aftermarket fan solved the problem, but i wouldnt recommend the procedure for the faint of heart electronically. nady has really struck on something with the addition of the full range sattelite amps . if nady addresses the fan issue in future models, they'll have a winner.
