I just dont like this pre

This preamp was a large disappointment. I bought it and I haven't used it on a single recording. There's so much noise just coming from it that after EQ/compressing to get the noise gone you lose the sound quality and then makes using a tube a bit pointless. The construction of the product is lackluster to say the least. It feels like a tin can. Other people seem to have had better luck with it then me. However I would recommend going with something by art or presonus even their cheaper ones have a better sound then this

First, replace the tube with another of your liking. I would recomend electro-harmonix or sovtek (EH's are sovteks with higher QC) for financial reasons, or Groove Tubes. Also, the power supply isn't shielded very well, at least on my model. On mine it's actualy mounted very close to the circuit where instead it could be anout two inches further away. Come on guys. But at least plan on replacing the tube, I'm going to recap mine nest week and then we'll see what happens. ;) Overall, not a bad buy, comparable to the blue tube but neither are great. POINT:If you are looking for a good tube pre, save a little more cash and get something a little nicer.

I've had it for three years now and it is my least expensive studio equipment that works well and does the job. The 12AX7A vacuum tube does give the right amount of warmth. Just wish it had more features like a simple 3-band equalizer, adjustable noise-shaping, etc.
