AK1 and FL Studio

I bought this unit mainly for the TRS outs (for my monitors) and the fact that NI was offering a free synth to go with it. I run Vista Home premium 32 bit and use it in FL Studio 9 and it works great!! Low latencies and the free synth came in the form of a coupon that I downloaded from the NI website. I only record midi and I only use FL Studio and this rig is a lot better than the Creative SoundBlaster external I had and the Yamaha Audiogram3 hands down!!!

I'm running vista on a newish laptop and so far this thing works flawlessly with much lower latencies and sound quality than on the alesis interface i was working with previously. I like that it's multi client (ie. you can use it with more than one sound program simultaneously, unlike the alesis).

One thing I would have liked is two headphone outputs, like the Novation io 2|4.

The guitar combos software that comes with it actually impressed me greatly. I have the full guitar rig software, but I really like the simpleness and ease/quickness of use that the guitar combos provides. Not to mention they sound great!

So far I haven't found a productivity enhancing use of the big knob and buttons but I'm sure something will come to me.

I haven't tried Tracktor LE, Cubase LE or Tracktor yet though. It runs great on FL Studio though. I hear that this unit just doesn't work with some computers however, so buying this could potentially be a roll of the dice.

Bad Drivers

I bought this unit with high expectations. I heard great things about it and the bundled software plug-ins are great. To my dismay the sound output had a bad noise "crackle". The email responses from native where slow at best. Come to find out I was not the only one with this problem. Native cust care took me through all kinds of "fixes" including buying an additional $30 powered external usb port. After weeks of trying to resolve the issue I was told that its a driver issue and I just had to wait for it. Needless to say I returned the unit and got a presonus interface that works great.
