The Numark TTUSB Belt-Drive Turntable with USB Audio Interface makes it super easy to digitize your record collection with plug-and-play compatibility with USB-equipped PCs and Macs. It includes everything you need to get music on your computer and clean it up. The TTUSB turntable features an adjustable anti-skating control for increased stereo balance, support for 33-1/3 and 45rpm playback speeds, ±10% adjustable pitch control, and a 1/8" stereo minijack input connector to make transferring cassette tapes easy. Comes complete with Audacity software, a headshell with pre-mounted cartridge, and all the necessary cables to connect with your computer and stereo playback system. Audacity lets you record at a high speed and return your music to the original playback speed; clean up the sound by removing clicks, pops, and other noise; and export to WAV and MP3.

It also includes EZ Vinyl Converter 2 (PC) and EZ Audio Converter (MAC) two of the simplest ways to record and convert vinyl directly to iTunes or your iPod. EZ Vinyl Converter 2 features Gracenote MusicID technology which analyzes your vinyl and automatically retrieves album, artist, and song information for you. Good product after some tweaking

I was initially not impressed with the TTUSB because I believed that you are forced to use their provided software in conjunction with iTunes (both of which I do not like). I also believed that it could only record to MP3 format. This was because of the poor documentation that doesn't state otherwise. Also, when the TTUSB was connected, I would not get any sound from my sound card. Well, after some experimentation, I discovered that the TTUSB was being set as the default audio interface in the "Sounds & Audio Devices" of the Windows control panel (which was easy to switch back to my sound card). By setting the TTUSB (USB Audio Codec) as the default record device in Windows you can use any recording software and save to just about any format. Overall the recordings are very good quality and the only real complaint I have is the poor documentation, lackluster software and the fact that the gain control is located underneath and toward the rear of the turntable.

Piece of cake to install and get started. The turntable and supplied cartridge produce a wonderfully clear and "round" analog sound. And better still, I find the produced MP3 comes out with the same warm "feel" - better than a store-bought CD.

software is weak

The EZ Vinyle Converter Windows software that comes with this is weak- The turntable is good but the software needs some help. There is no pause button in the software to stop recording between tracks. Your option is limited to a new track button which is fine and dandy for recording one side, but there is no way to pause recording when you flip the wax. You just have to deal and then erase the blank track later. There is probably some shareware available that could spice this package up but I have not started that quest yet. I think there are more sophisticated packages available where the software automatically detects when a track is done- that would be more desirable.

Have converted several albums and one cassette in the past couple of days and am pretty well pleased so far. The belt drive & platter work well, comes up to speed quickly, platter runs true. The cartridge/stylus provide a good clean sound. Unless you are a hard core audiophile the reproduction of sound from the records is most acceptable for casual listening. This unit could and should come with a factory supplied dust cover. An instrument that uses delicate parts like this should be reasonably protected when not in use. The furnished MixMeister EZ Vinyl Converter 2 is reasonably easy to learn and use. You do trade off the ability to perform some editing tasks for the ease of use. The instructions are not the greatest but after I stumbled through a few mistakes things went well. I was running an older version of I-tunes and had to use the update provided on the CD for things to run properly. The Audicity software is much more complicated but provides the opportunity to edit much more...have not ventured into that realm yet as I have been trying to get some old favorite tunes crammed into the MP3 quickly. Will try to report back after trying that conversion system.

Some guy said to just hook up the outputs of the turntable to your computer's soundcard and record - no USB, etc. required. He obviously does not know that an input for a turntable has a particular EQ curve since vinyl is recorded in a way that makes this necessary. The EQ of a record without the proper preamp does not sound right since the proper EQ is not applied. So...use the appropriate RIAA turntable input on your receiver and an output from the receiver into your sound card or get a turntable like this that, I assume, accounts for that EQ curve. If this turntable does not account for the EQ required from the proper preamp then this thing is junk. I would thing that this company would know to do this, but I don't know.
