please avoid this unit. i got this on a recommendation from a salesman it was this or a similar type unit from another brand. i chose the idj2 boy what a mistake that ended up being. i immediately powered my idj2 up i was so excited. all this thing ended up doing was glitch and freeze up and then boom completely shut off. do not buy.

I got this product for christmas, it was being replaced boxing day. The right play button stopped working, which is a pretty major problem.

2 weeks later, after getting it replaced with a new one, it turns out that it will freeze songs for seconds, either in the middle of a fade or without even touching it. The decks freeze up individually, so when it does eventually start playing again everything is out of time.

While this might have the ability to play iPods, you may as well just plug your iPod straight into the speakers and cut out the middle because at least you wouldn't have the frustration of it breaking down.

Do NOT buy this product.

The Numark IDJ2 has its advantages. We had heard about problems with previous units. When this model came out we snatched it right up. It is versatile and easy to use. It doesn't cary the features most PC based club DJs will want but should get you through most basic events without any regrets. The case and keyboard from Numark are a must have! Don't expect to use it right out of the box. You need to comb over your MP3s to make sure they are tagged correctly. We are not using hard drives yet. Only thumb drives because the power in the USB plugs are weak and our drives are all NTFS, which requires us to reprogram to Fat32 (if I have that right). The output voltage is very high. I used it with a engineer running very big the house system for me and we had to gate the output WAY down with a DI before he could do anything with it. In my own systems it has been noticeable but not an issue. Here it was. I would also say the sound of the microphone input is not what I am used to. I like a little deeper end on my voice and cannot control that here. I don't think the audience notices though. We bought one hoping to replace 7 laptops. We will probably buy 2 total. It has it's place but isn't the silver bullet we have been looking for.

Well i've been djing for 8 yrs. i love the first idj then brought the 2, really loving it. still set up the 1 and 2 (IDJ) at the same time, love the pitch and scratch effect, sometime its slow when load nxt song, the updating is very slow and sad, every now i and then when djing song well go off for 2 sec. people love seen it and other djs love it.

I have been a DJ for 25 years. I have had the truck load of LPs, CDs, etc. This is the way to go. For starters, FORGET THE iPod. They freeze up on their own. What you need to do is what I did. Get yourself a large external hard drive. I have 500gb with around 65,000 songs. Run the Librarian program that comes with the system. It took 4 days for mine to load. It profiles every song. (BPM, Search, etc.) After that, you can use a USB keyboard and ALL of your music is at your finger tips. ALso, make sure you have the latest software versions that are available off of the Numark website. I also use 1-8 GB flash drives for music that the group may request before the event.
