I am not getting any younger and was looking for a lighter speaker than my yamahas without sacrificing the sound quality. These Peavey PR-12's do the job. Our band plays small to medium venues and these speakers handle the job very well with excellent bass response and clarity for a speaker of this very manageable weight. Very happy picker.

The PR12 s are significantly better than the other brands of this type and price. They will get the job done for your vocals in a small band in a medium setting. i don't think i would advise running your kick and bass, however, but the light weight and ease of use really comes in handy.

I have owned these as well as the bigger pr-15s for over three years and I can't really find anything bad to say. I like the pr12s a lot better than the pr15s. I think the pr15s are boomier to me. To be honest if you are not playing bass heavy music or require speakers to handle an audience of over 400 people you can eq these to sound as good as about anything out there in a 12" cabinet. They have been very dependable.

I bought a pair of these about 10 months ago and drive them with a Tapco Juice 1400 amp. They are the main PA for my hobby band. We play for free, don't make a lot of noise, and are getting on in years so the price, weight, and power rating were very attractive. They sound wonderful: clean, clear, and crisp. And they are easy to carry and lift onto the stands. Between gigs I set them up in my living room. Fantastic value for money.

The price on these plastic molded speakers makes them very attractive, and they are for small gigs. While they are lightweight, aesthetically pleasing and an overall good value, they are not any good for covering anything other than a small event. Pushing these at 1/4 power through a crown xls 402 (8 ohm unbridged), the amplifier frequently clips and occasionally the lamp on the crossover or the diaphram will blow on me. The 12" woofer is also distorted when any large amount of bass from an audiotrack goes through it. I know the problem is not with my mixer or amp since I own other sets of speakers, some with comparable specs that do not have this problem. I am actually looking into modding the speakers and upgrading the guts.

Many other reviewers on here seem to think these speakers can cover a large hall...they would be wrong. If crossed over and used strictly for highs or mids maybe, by themselves...no. I recommend spending the extra money for Yamahas (they are by far the most reliable speakers I have owned in the lower price range).
