Pioneer's DJ music mixers have a reputation for providing high-quality audio and reliability. The Pioneer DJM-800 incorporates features recommended by many professional DJs and club engineers, raising the bar on sound fidelity and ease of mixer operation. Most important are its high-quality 24-bit/96kHz sampling and effect capabilities.

High Quality Audio
The analog signal from the player passes through the shortest signal route, first digitized at 24-bit/96kHz through a pro A/D converter where it reaches the digital mixing stage with the best sound possible. The mixing is carried out by 32-bit DSP with minimal deterioration of sound quality. A highly rigid chassis minimizes unnecessary vibration, which could adversely affect sound quality. The mixer also incorporates a dual-shield structure for eliminating entry of digital noise and a high performance power supply for noise-free power.

Sound Color Effects For A New Style of DJ Mixing
The world's first pro DJ mixer with Auto Harmonic Tuning detects the key of song and automatically corrects to the closest true key. In music theory terms, when a DJ raises the pitch of a song in the key of C by three percent, the song is no longer in the key of C, but somewhere between C and C sharp. This makes it impossible to perform a perfect harmonic mix. Pioneer's Harmonic Tuning feature takes the key of the source audio and adjusts the pitch until it is that of a standard note. Of course the DJ still has to know some basics about music, such as which keys match, in order to pull off an acoustically perfect harmonic mix. World-class DJs currently spend thousands of hours learning the keys of their music and re-mastering their library to be in "perfect pitch." Now the Pioneer DJM-800 Mixer makes it easier to perform a "harmonic mix."

Effects
The Pioneer DJ Mixer incorporates a high-pass/low-pass filter, notch filter and bit crusher effect for all channels. In conjunction with the additional beat effects, 50 combinations of effects are possible. Higher quality effects at 24-bits make for a cleaner sounding remix. The effects automatically detect the BPM of the music and sync to the beats. The Pioneer DJM-800 includes some familiar effects, plus some new ones: Echo, Delay, Reverse Delay, Pan, Transform, Filter, Flanger, Phaser, Reverb, Robot, Chorus, Roll, and Reverse Roll.

Digital Input/Output terminals
Digital inputs and outputs allow for connection with other digital-capable equipment for a fully digital chain, without degradation of sound quality. The Pioneer DJM-800 is not only ideal for the club professional but also great in a recording studio environment where high fidelity sound is required. Input frequencies of 44.1/48/96kHz are compatible; output frequency is selectable between 48/96kHz.

Fully Assignable MIDI function
There are a total of 61 assignable controls. The MIDI signal can be sent from almost all knobs and switches on the surface of the Pioneer Mixer to external MIDI equipment. Since the mixer can send out many MIDI signals, it can be used as a flexible interface to music software or hardware such as Ableton Live or EDIROL V-4 Video Mixer.

Rotary Volume Knobs (optional)
The main volume fader knobs can be replaced with rotary volume knobs (DJC-800RV), which are especially valuable for extended mixing providing more subtlety and precision.

Numerous other features make the DJM-800 audio mixer ideal for a sophisticated DJ:
- Crossfader Assign allows the DJ to assign each channel's input to the crossfader
- Fader Curve Adjust allows the user to change the cross fader/channel fader curve
- When connected to a Pioneer CDJ player, the Fader Start allows playback to be started by simply sliding the crossfader or channel fader
- A built-in three-band equalizer enables level control within a -26dB to +6dB range for high, mid, low bands, respectively
- The Talk Over feature automatically lowers track volume so an MC can talk over the track
- The Mic Signal Cut eliminates the microphone sound output to the booth monitor to prevent feedback
- The DJ can check the peak level of the input audio for each channel and the master

I've had this mixer for approximately one year and I can vouch for its features and reputation. It's a "beast!" It is worth the money, and you won't have to upgrade in my opinion. A true professional mixer that does what it says, truly the "industry standard!"

I bought this mixer to upgrade my DJM 500 which I've had now for over 8 years. I love the mixer and if you are going to buy a DJM you should just go ahead and get this one. Its really solid and well made, you can interchange the faders if you prefer rotary better and the effects are really easy to use. My only complaint is that I believe it is over priced by Pioneer.

I've worked as a professional DJ for more than 10 years, and have worked with every kind of gear out there, and I can say for sure that I'm a "Pioneer" fan. This mixer produces an amazing sound quality (I connect digitally via the coaxial outputs...) and the touch of the mixer is amazing. By far, the best DJ mixer I've worked with. It beats every "tiger" in the market including the Allen & Heath Xone 92 (which I also Own)and many more "professional" DJ mixers. The effects unit is amazing and very functional. The effects sound amazing. The color effects also sound great and really give a boost to every mix. The faders are really comfortable, but what I really like about them is that theyr'e not as smooth as the faders you get on other mixers. You can really work on this mixer. He's not as sensitive as it looks. It's really a great "battle" mixer. Another great aspect of this mixer is the MIDI interface. As a performing DJ, in addition to my 2 Pioneer CDJ-800MK2 CD Players, I also work with a laptop (running with Cubase or Ableton Live on it) and I perform all kinds of manipulations on the software using the MIDI out function on my mixer. Almost every button or knob can be assigned to a certain control change. In Conclusion, this mixer is the best mixer I've worked on and I strongly recommend it. It's not really for the aspiring\starting DJ's out there, but for the professionals it's probably the best DJ mixer in the world.

Pioneer Hater Wowed!

Let's be up front. I was so biased AGAINST Pioneer after so many disappointments and bad warranty experiences with other products that it's a serious miracle that I even gave this a shot. I hadn't mixed for the first part of 2007 at all and decided to sell my Xone 92, which was my favorite mixer to that point. I went about a month mixing on my room mates DJM 707 and was fed up. I went to purchase an allen and Heath V6 and I was told my a staffer where I shop that I really needed to give this mixer a day in court.

I was VERY reluctant... I ended up doing it tho after about a week, and was immediately blown away. This was not like the TOYS pioneer used to make. It's built like a tank, the faders and EQs are solid, smooth and responsive, AND the sound quality, while not being quite as good as Allen & Heath's comes VERY close...

Most of all, this mixer is so fun to mix on. The color effects and new effects bank are actually useful and can produce some cool stuff. I love it.

The best mixer ive used to date. I only wish it came standard with rotary channel volome controls, and a rotaary crossfader. These are available as upgrades from panasonic, but are pricey and extremly hard to find. All in all a great mixer, the new standard.
