I look forward to doing sound at my local club just to use this unit! Truth! I can (with 2 rack spaces) make a whole live drum kit tight and punchy! I can squish troublesome vocalists with ease. I don't own one YET. It's my next big purchase.

I have owned one of these for about 16 years... i was in a music store and saw it on the rack brand new covered in dust, so i talked the sales guy into giving me a killer deal on this "dusty old piece of junk"...!!! SUCKER..!!! I have used this unit to gate/limit my drums for live performance for over a decade... now i use it for that when i run sound for other bands... i also use it to limit the vocal mics and even a bass effects unit that one of my buddies uses... this thing is a MUST HAVE if you are going to mic drums for a live band... i have run sound for dozens of bands using many different sound systems and whenever a singer or guitar player step out front and listen to the mix, they are always blown away by how SOLID the kick drum is and they ask me how i did it... i always point at the ACP-88..!!! Once you get the right gate and compression setting for the kick drum that is going through it, you can really "bump the room" and get all the girls dancing..!!! And it is awesome for eliminating "tom ring" in your mix... Plus it can keep a good vocalist from hurting people when he or she hits the high notes... this thing really is my secret weapon... I wouldn't do a live sound or a studio gig without it...

I have used many, many compression units and this is just ASTOUNDING! It has enough to cover the entire drumset and more. The quality is absolutely superb. It's the kind of thing that sound technicians drool over.

The compression and gating provided here are excellent for drum recording and function fine for almost any other compression/gating situation. Your drums will be explosive with this device!
