The FireStudio Tube is a complete 24-bit/96kHz professional FireWire recording system loaded with a comprehensive combination of inputs and outputs for bands, producers, musicians, and engineers to produce commercial-quality recordings.

Note:As of 5/26/09, you can make your FireStudio Tube 64-bit compatible via a PreSonus web update.

Two SuperChannels - Tube Preamplifiers with Limiter
The front panel of the FireStudio Tube is loaded with two "SuperChannels" featuring Class-A vacuum tube microphone and instrument preamplifiers, along with full-featured analog limiters.

The tube preamplifiers use a high gain, military grade 12AX7 tube for maximum gain, low noise, and high headroom. Neutrik combo connectors allow both XLR microphone input and hi-Z instrument input. Preamp controls include preamp gain and tube drive to achieve a wide range of sounds from smooth, clean and clear, to warm tube saturation. An 80Hz high pass filter is also located on the front panel to remove room rumble and unwanted lows.

The FireStudio Tube's Limiter features a VCA-based, ultra-fast RMS and peak detection circuit used in the award-winning DigiMax 96K, delivering the most musical limiter available; able to catch the fastest transients eliminating the possibility of clipping during recording while maintaining musicality. Controls for the Limiter include Threshold and Gain make-up as well as an in/out button.

Fast-acting LED metering on the front panel displays preamp input and limiter gain reduction for the two tube SuperChannels.

Perfect I/O for Music Production
The FireStudio Tube delivers all the analog I/O needed for professional recording sessions, featuring 16 analog inputs including two tube SuperChannels on the front panel, as well as eight Class-A XMAX microphone preamplifiers and six balanced TRS line inputs on the rear panel. Outputs include eight balanced TRS outputs and PreSonus' signature ultra loud and clear headphone output. MIDI I/O is also included on the rear panel for MIDI instruments, keyboards, and controllers. The FireStudio Tube's combination of microphone, instrument, and line inputs is perfect for a band to simultaneously record drums, bass, guitar, vocals, and keyboards without any additional preamplifiers.

DSP Mixer/Router
The FireStudio Tube includes PreSonus' 16x10 FireControl mixer/router delivering up to five zero-latency custom monitor mixes easily and quickly.

Digital Converters and JetPLL Sync
The FireStudio Tube touts A/D/A converters with a dynamic range of over 114dB for unbelievable clarity as well as synchronization using patented JetPLL jitter reduction technology. JetPLL incorporates noise shaping to virtually remove all audio band jitter, ensuring the highest converter performance possible, resulting in better stereo separation and clearer more transparent audio. It delivers ultra-fast locking to any digital format through a wide range of frequencies, and is extremely robust and tolerant of wide variations in clock frequencies. JetPLL ensures near perfect clock performance when networking audio devices, thus creating the most stable and robust synchronization to the computer.

ProPak Software Suite
As with all PreSonus recording systems, the FireStudio Tube includes a complete suite of software featuring Studio One Artist music creation and production software which has the same platform and intuitive interface as Studio One Pro but with an unlimited track count, along with a number of third-party plug-ins, loops, samples, and virtual instruments delivering a complete music production solution.

Me and another guy in my band both got the Firestudio Tube. It has served us great so far. The fact that you have 16 inputs that are all analog is awesome. We daisychained them to record a live gig and got 32 tracks to my MacBook Pro 15" 2.4gHz. No hiccups, no issues. THANKS PRESONUS!!!

I got this unit after a 7 month long ordeal with a Mackie Onyx 1200f that disappointed to say the least. I was convinced that this would be at least a good interim answer until I was ready to shell out a much larger amount. I recieved it, and though it was okay to look at, it lacked a lot of features I feel are important. I went ahead and plugged it into my new MacBook Pro 17 2.66 ghz, 8 GB installed Ram, 320 GB HD and 2.0 TB external 7200 RPM disk array via te firewire port. The Mac initial;ly liked this product for a reasonable enough time that I tyhought things would be okay. If I recorded a few tracks at once with 16 or 24 bit and sample rates of 44.1 or 48 KHz if I sampled above that with even a few tracks, playback would all of a sudden fall into scxreaming feedback, hang the MacBook Pro, launch into the debugger, fire of a few reports to apple, attempt to recover, and then fall into all sorts of new crashing behaviors, off any of the drives-though all of these drives plasy back the files without any major load on them when you view the CPU/HD usage meter in Logic. Oddly, enough, the same files that invoke this behavior do not occur when using the built in audio for playback. I had other issues as well, but this was the deal breaker. Audio fidelity was very good, but not incredible, the tube pre is only so -so. It sure isnt a replacement for a high quality tube pre, but it does work. I just didn't care for it's tonal shape.

While I was full of hope before the unit arived, it didnt live up to it's promise. I was able to record ONCE with 14 tracks at 24 bit 96 KHz, but only once. After that pass, each successive attempt brought only misery and crashes. Losing sync with the interface and MacBook Pro 17 happened so often I couldnt believe it. Trying to use the click track in logic 8 brought up sample rate errors every time I tried to use it. It was pretty much a wasted weekend of anger and frustration. I was all set to buy at least two more, but am now re-evaluating if I am going to keep it at all. I also wish I could say the tube pre's are good, but they have a limited window of use sonically speaking They are too distorted to be useful on vocals. However I give them very high marks for the 8 other pre's They sound pristine at any sample rate. Overall this product could use better software integration with Logic. I wont use Cubase LE, I own Logic 8, why would I switch?

Great Project Studio Interface!

I just bought this and have run several tests on Drums Vocals Guitar and Bass.... and this sounds really good with all of them. The Tube pres add a nice warmth to kick drums and vocals. I have a ART TPSII and with a bass run through that into one of the regular pres I'm getting a killer Bass tone. I am using this with Sonar 8 and it has seem to run fine still going back and forth between WDM and ASIO driver etc but both work it's just a matter of tweaking to find the settings that are the fastest while being the most stable. I think for the money you won't find a better interface. I've never A-B'd it with the Maudio 2626 etc. but this thing sounds really good. The only thing it lacks is an ADAT lightpipe but you can daisychain 2 of these and have more than enough ins and outs for any size project. I give it two thumbs up!!
