Each channel features headphone level, mix control between A and B inputs, external input volume, mute and mono. The HP60 also features talkback via external XLR microphone input.

A common set up for the Presonus HP60 Headphone Amplifier in a recording session is to send the main control room mix to input A. Send the click track to input B. Send each band member the direct output of their recording channel from the DAW to the external input of their headphone channel in the HP60 (more me). This will allow each band member to create a mix between the main mix, the click track, and themselves.

Bought from Musicians Friend 5 months ago for the home studio. My ears aren't golden by any stretch, but this amp sounds fine to me & my golden-eared spouse using Sennheiser HD280s. The direct-ins allow me to give an individual "Me Mix" to 6 performers using the direct outs from my firewire interface. Plenty of volume. Price is right. Don't like the power switch in the back either, but I plug all my recording gear into a battery back-up surge protector with a switch in front so no real problem.

This is by far the best rackmounted headphone amp I've seen. Just the fact that you have 3 stereo mixes that can be blended for each headphone output is huge. All of the others only let you blend 2. The sound is really clean and the build quality is solid. No wiggly feeling pots. Talkback is also a nice touch.

Most other units you will find are limited to four channels which is silly since most bands have more than four players... this makes it great for our "headphone-practices" when the sound needs to be turned down and recording situations.

Sound: Of all the similar products we tried out, this was by far the best sounding. No signal loss, very clear and it offers a lot of control over the sound for each individual channel.

Overall this product has been great for our needs, sounds great, and is feature-packed. The only complaint I have is that it's a little pricey for what it is, but there's no similar product that even compares to this one's quality and performance.

I like this headphone amp. I needed a way to send several different signals to each channel and this HP60 gives me more than enough options. Having a built in talkback preamp is also a nice touch. GREAT JOB PRESONUS!

This could have been a really good piece. Power is too low - manual suggests telling players (if they need more volume and it's distorting)"sorry the unit is maxed out! "Power switch is on the back, which never makes sense in a rack mount device.
