I had this interface for about two years. traveled with it, carefully, and never had any problems at all whatsoever with it becoming faulty. The interface is a little cumbersome to control if you have a laptop, because you have to keep switching screens to control volumes. Also, be aware that this interface has two input channels, and not 4. You can either use the microphone, or the instrument on one side, but not both. I've installed this on PC's and Macs both, with no problems. It works with every recording program that I have including garageband, Logic Studio and Pro Tools. The quality direct is not professional, but if you have a decent mic, recordings come out pretty damn good. I would recommend this my friends on a budget, or someone just starting out with recording.

I've got mine 3 months ago, and I can't stop using it since.
The first days were enthusiastics but it got better now, that I'm using for recording drum at a friends house... We're taking an amazing powered drum sound of this box... even with a poor mic kit.
I had problem to install in a PC, with the "vista," but with my mac it was just the time to get the driver at the presonus site, and get it rollig...
Mac users, do your home recordings nice and easy... use it for practice, use for a demo, of a song, arrangement, or even a pre production work... it will sure pay each cent invested. Recommended

I don't think I overused this box. It started out so good. Had blast, easy install/set-up, came with some great effects and plug-ins. It handled many recording projects with no problems. Then, one day, about 2 years after first getting it in the mail, it developed a terrible buzz/hiss in the first channel. I never dropped it, I never man-handled it, nothing. I used it for what it was created for. So, I'm not sure what the deal is, but I was very disappointed because it was a great tool to record my projects. Now I am down to the 2nd channel and to utilize the 3rd channel on the back I have to get some creative cabling going on and *lol* run a line into an RCA jumper. Honestly, I haven't done that and probably won't. I called when the buzz started happening and found out that of course it was past warranty. So, I have a nice custom Presonus Inspire with a custom two-tone conflicting buzz option with one channel. Anyway, was a good price when I first got it, but now I am frustrated that I can't get a good recording using both channels (one vox, one instrument.)
Again, I took care of the item and didn't overuse it. So, that's my two cents!

I bought the Inspire to record some demos at home with GarageBand. It was extremely easy to set up, and pretty much starts working out of the box. It has incredible sound quality with no latency or noise. The fact that you can power it from just a FireWire cable is a big plus as well. It also comes with Cubase LE and Sony Acid, but both of these are unintuitive and extremely hard to use. I'll just stick with GarageBand. So, if your looking for something to let you get guitars and vocals into your computer, get it. I think I'll even start recording my band's shows with this as well!

it's a great box if u want no effects or any special stuff..i like the phantom power, but be careful that you know A LOT about it before you get it, and make sure it works well with your computer or you might find yourself returning it like i did mine. I would get a Line 6 device. It's good...just really really frustrating if it won't install onto your computer.
