PreSonus TUBEPre Microphone Preamp
This unitets you add character to your signal by varying the amount of gain and tube drive. A 12AX7 tube in this single-channel mic preamp fattens your signal while dual-servo gain stages let you simultaneously output to your amp and console. Sterling specs include 10Hz-80kHz frequency response, a 94dB noise floor, and >90dB S/N ratio. Capacitor-free circuitry and wide dynamic control give you a big boost without noise. Includes 48V phantom power, phase reverse, 20dB pad, and 80Hz rumble filter. A large VU meter with a cool blue backlight keeps you informed. MXL 990 Condenser Microphone
The 990 has a silky, sweet high-end while retaining tight, solid low and midrange reproduction. The 3/4" gold-sputtered diaphragm creates a professional sound suited for digital and analog recording. I got this preamp and mic for my upright bass at Berklee College of Music, using it in some Jazz settings. The preamp allows me to go right in to any amp I want, and I have to say the tone it gives my bass in unbelievable. The tube is so wonderful! The mic is great, I have a few that I use but this one is quite solid. I gave the features a 4 because a few things, the phantom power, im not sure if it is a slow on and off, or if it just cuts the power right away. The best is to have a steady on and off so you dont damage the mic with the sudden power burst. But all in all I would highly suggest this set up for really anything, even just a preamp to bring around with you just to put your guitar or bass through to give it that delicious warmth!

I use this preamp to connect my bass to my church's PA. The gain and drive are good. The VU meter is twitchy though. Overall a great buy!

First, I have used this particular mic to record acoustic instruments and it does very well for the money. Second, I have used this tube preamp on stage in the instrument mode. I run my fiddle through the PA and it gives a nice warm tone. The fiddle has a very harsh pickup on it and this preamp calms it right down.

I purchased this package over a month ago. I needed a shock mount and a second MXL 990. I have been wanting a TUBEpre for awhile and am now able to afford it with this package. WOW! The preamp works so well that I now will have to go back and redo some of my parts on current project I am working on. I recommemd this package. It works well for me. You won't be dissappointed at all.

I've needed a TubePre and a shock mount for my MXL 990 for a while but couldn't afford them. Now I need a second MXL 990 and was suprised when this package came available. I am very pleased with each item. My TubePre works very well but I would have liked it to have an on/off switch. Now I will have to redo some of my vocals on the current project due to the quality I am getting from the TubePre. This is all good equipment for my purpose.
