I keep several ProLine Universal Microphone Clips on hand to quickly replace broken mic clips that happen mid-performance. For added stability, I wrap a couple of heavy rubber bands around the clip and mic. While they hold most handheld mics, they're best suited for barrels with minimal to moderate taper

These clips can (and ocassionally do) break but overall, they're well made for the task and last a long time with reasonable care.

In a pinch, you can also use them to hold back long hair or re-seal a bag of chips.
