The Journey Into the Vortex Apple Loops CD-ROM from Q Up Arts was produced and created by veteran video game sound designer Glenn Jamison. This unique loop collection features electronica loops for use in Hip-Hop, rap, techno, downtempo, chillout, ambient, house, dub and trance. It features drones, bass lines, hits, sound FX, and beats. All tempos are provided in the file name.

The material represented in Journey into the Vortex is the product of various studio re-wiring experimentations. Jamison's intention was to create a system where he could control all of the hardware and software gear from one controller (E-mu MP-7). Loop sound sources include the E-mu MP-7, Juno 106, Clavia Nord 3, Roland Jupiter 8, Reason, and various other software synths. FX used to process these include Electric MO-FX and Filter Factory, Lexicon Reverb, E-mu RFX board, and other software FX plug-ins. Using one bank of knobs on the MP-7 he programmed in 16 FX sends. Some sends would control just one effect from one source, while others would control many different effects. Another bank was set up to control the filters/LFOs/envelopes for whatever the source of the part (hardware synth, sampler or software). Two more banks were set up for volumes and pans of various elements. The basic idea was once everything had been sequenced, all he would have to do was tweak knobs to create various combinations of mixes.

The output was sent into a computer which was continuously recording. This meant he could go into the studio with a bunch of sequences, turn off the lights, tweak knobs and forget about everything else. The result is Journey into the Vortex, a unique collection of loops. Glenn Jamison lives in North Vancouver, BC, Canada, where he has been creating sound on AAA video game titles for a decade. Glenn's award-winning sounds can be heard on titles for THQ, Midway, Sega, MTV, Nintendo, and Fox Interactive. Originally hired as a sound designer for Radical Entertainment, Glenn has produced audio and written music for many major game platforms including Playstation 1, PC, XBOX, Gamecube, Playstation 2, and XBOX 360. Glenn is now an Audio Lead at Relic Entertainment in Vancouver. There he manages audio teams including sound designers, composers, editors and mixing artists, producing speech, SFX, and music for one of the highest-rated video game companies in the world.
