Maximum performance and portability with very flexible I/O. |
The QSC GX5 Stereo Power Amplifier is ideal for professional entertainers who require maximum performance and portability on a limited budget. QSC designers, headed by Pat Quilter, have optimized output and appearance of the rackmountable GX5 while reducing raw material cost and weight. The GX5 power amplifier provides full performance for 500 watt (Program) speakers and supplies maximum possible power to 4 ohm and 8 ohm loads. Owners of popular 4 ohm loudspeakers (dual-woofer, two-way models and many subwoofers) will find the 700 watt (4 ohm) power of the GX5 an ideal match.
The GX5 power amp uses a Class H system, based on key elements of the PLX Series, almost doubling power in the same size and weight. QSC design expertise allows the output devices to shift from low-power to high-power rails in less than a millionth of a second, ensuring that the output power is always right where it needs to be without excess loss.

I got this thing about a month ago. It has not let me down. The bands that I'm in love to play head-banging rock, not metal though. Anyone who plays this knows that a crash cymbal is essential. All I can say is that the crash has no chance. I use this with a Kustom monitor and a Behringer mixer. Together, it's a great PA system. When all the knobs are at about 70% full, it basically shakes the house(we practice in my basement, and the neighbors, about 150 feet away can hear us). It is also moderately cheap, so if you're on a loose budget, get this now. You will not regret it.

This was my first time ever putting a sound system together. My band's original Phonic Powerpod was dying, so it was time for an upgrade. I was completely new to the power amp area, but I was recommended this amp by a guy at my local Guitar Center. First off, the thing is built like a tank. Little on the heavy side, but not too bad. And for the power you get, it's worth every pound. Man does this thing push!! We're using it to run 2 Peavey Pr-15s (400W handling, 600W peak) and the thing absolutely kills!! We ran it for a good hour at a pretty high volume, and it was completely cool to the touch. This amp has made me a loyal QSC customer. Highly recommended!

We have 2 of these for our PA system. 1 drives the S115V Yamaha's (2 inside and 4 outside) and 1 drives our EAW bass bins. Great clean sounds with plenty of headroom. No problem with them overheating even after 6 hours of constant use. They are perfectly sized for our needs and love the fact that they weigh about half of our monitor amp (RMX850). Bottom line is this is a great amp for a awesome price, you cannot go wrong with it!

This GX 5 is by far the best amp for the money. I have 2 at the church where I am the sound man. I got one and liked it so well that I have purchased another one for outside speakers! Try it. I had a Nady Power Amp and having a lot of trouble with feed back, but not with the GX 5

This power amp has travelled with me through half the country, with some pretty inconsiderate roadies, and run 6 hours a day every day with everything from folk rock to death metal. Never had a single problem. EVER. It usually runs a pair of JBL JRX125 Dual 15" speakers and always provides clear consistent sound. The only reason I gave it 4.5 on features instead of 5 is because you do not have the "bridged mono" option found on most power amps. For a sound engineer that needs to be very flexible, this may be a problem. Still, it is flexible enough with the built in crossover! Great job QSC! I will be buying another to power dedicated subwoofers soon!
