The HPR153i 3-way loudspeaker is a great choice when the warmth, clarity and projection of a horn loaded, cone midrange system is desired. The 15" driver and larger enclosure volume provide extension down to 36 Hz making the HPR153i well suited for reinforcement of music with lots of low frequency content. Mids are handled by a 6" cone driver that seamlessly covers the critical vocal region. A 1.4" (diaphragm) compression driver delivers brilliant top end response. The 600 watt (400 LF/100 MF/100 HF) power module includes a 100 Hz high-pass filter for use in subwoofer-equipped systems.

I purchased a pair of these as sole sound support for FOH at our church (which seats about 150), and we've been using them for 10 months now. They are simply fabulous! Speech and vocals are incredibly clear and beautiful. Guitars and keys sounds the way that they should. These cabinets simply do a wonderful job at filling our space with almost perfectly-intelligible, beautiful sound. You won't be disappointed!

Had Mackies. Used JBLs. Broke down and got these with the matching 18 subs. I use the Mackies as monitors now because they just can't compare to the QSC. I matched this up with the DBX drive rack.....My sound can not be beat. So EZ with the drive rack. The Mid range really brought out so much more in our sound. Look no further!!!!!!!!!!! THESE ARE WHAT YOU WANT!

Absolutely Wonderful Speakers

First heard these bad boys when my friends' band played at our friends tattoo shop. The owner rented them along with other equipment.
I also own an HPR122i, which I use for a floor monitor. I soon realized my floor monitor outplayed my Yamaha mains so decided I needed some new mains.
I wanted to go with QSC because I heard them and love them and I associate QSC with quality since that's all I have seen from them. In my opinion QSC and quality are synonymous.
These speakers are great. Being 3-way, you can more clearly hear the music in detail.
They have a very clear and powerful sound.
I couldn't make these things sweat after pushing them all night long.
When most speakers in this class would be at a dead sprint, this just seems to be skipping along...but still winning the race.
If you can't tell I am excited about owning these and impressed with their performance, I don't think I could say anything else to convince you of it then.
Cons - Pricey (but the JBL equivalents are more expensive with negligible difference in sound), heavy, if you are throwing these babies up on sticks you better have a teammate there to help lift in on there.
The pros FAR outweigh the cons here. They are pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Our company rents and operates sound systems, so we get to try out all the new stuff. We have A-B'd these against comparable Mackie models and found that the QSC speakers (and especially the QSC amplifiers) perform better across the board.
Mackie makes a big deal about their horns and the time-alignment on their informative website as if they were the only folks that knew about it. Our measurements show better response with the QSC speakers, especially when you push them.
Mackie's LF drivers are good, but we have smoked a mid-driver or two in the Mackie. The QSC's are still going strong, the amplifiers are measurably superior and perform better when cranked. Both companies have good products in this exact-same style and price range. The warranty is better with QSC (6 years) and we have found it much easier to get tech-support from QSC. Call both companies for yourself and ask questions. See what you think.

I bought a pair of these monsters in May of '07 and they are something else. These speakers are the most evenly eq'ed speakers I've ever owned. I coupled mine with a set of the 181is. when we first used them we heard parts of our music that we had never been able to hear before due to the midrange speaker. Also, they always sound the same no matter what volume we play. In my 50 years I have heard and used a lot of speakers but to paraphrase Tina Turner, QSC you're "Simply the Best".
The cabinets are starting to get a little dinged up from moving them every week. I wish the covers were a little bit cheaper. It seems like QSC could come up with some type of rollers for the 153's but a dolly works for now. We also had a gig where it poured on us but we dried the cabinets and had no adverse effects.
Finally, I used the 153's and 181's to run sound for a local festival with five acts including a duo, blues band, alternative band, and two cover bands and the QSC's handled all of it with ease. Take it from me - they are the best speakers ever.
They might seem a little expensive but if you want a set of speakers you can be proud of, get these speakers from QSC.
