I have bought a lot of microphones in the past 30 years, but I never got so much for my money as from an NT1 or NT1-A. Dead quiet, remarkable dynamics, absolutely transparent with no discernible artifacts even under the most critical studio circumstances -- it is the best value I know of in a condenser microphone. It's my standard vocal mike, but also a go-to for various solo instruments, especially guitar and violin. You can run it cool and work close, or heat it up and back away -- either way there is no loss of accuracy. Spend a couple large if you want, but you won't get a better microphone.

I just bought this mic for a startup VO home studio. Plugged into Digi Mbox-2 and USB to laptop into Protools LE that comes with the box. I am blown away at the sound.

I almost spent 10x this on a bunch of gear. This mic to amazing. This mic makes me sound amazing!

Ok, simply put, you can't get a better mic than this for this kind of money. I ran this mic through my Mackie Onyx 1640 board, out the firewire and into my laptop. This mic recorded exactly what i sang with no noise from the mic at all. It even captured the subtle echo of my voice that was bouncing off of the wood panel walls of the room i was recording in..! This mic will give you as "true to life" recording as you are going to getin this price range. I doubt a $2000 mic would sound 10 times better, so why pay ten times more money? This mic is a home studio engineer's best friend, just don't use it to record someone who can't sing! LOL..! This mic has already shown me where my vocals are lacking, which is one of the reasons I bought it, so i can learn how to sing better. The mic is doing it's job, the rest is up to me!

The guy who gave this 1 star and said to get the M-Audio Luna - complete amateur. This is obvious because there's no way you can give this mic 1 star, even if it doesn't work for you. Crisp, clear, low-noise - it's worth the money. I've used the Luna as well and it has different dynamics, but if I had to choose, it would be the Rode, hands-down. I use it for vocals and mic'n the guitar and I personally prefer it to my SM-57. Very good mic. You get more than what you pay for.
