(main) Standmount Pouch

The RDE NT2-A Large-Capsule Studio Condenser Microphone is a professional, one-inch condenser microphone with variable pick-up patterns, high-pass filter, and pad.

3 - 3-position switches located on the mic body provide selection of figure 8, cardioid, or omni polar pick-up patterns; from a flat response to either 80Hz or 40Hz high-pass filter; and pad adjustments of 0dB, -5dB, or -10dB attenuation.

The heart of the NT2-A is the Australian-designed and manufactured Type HF1 dual-diaphragm capsule. The frequency and transient response of this new transducer has been voiced to complement today's modern recording techniques and yet still evoke the silky smooth character of the legendary microphones of the '50s and '60s. Includes a soft pouch and clip.

The RDE NT2-A represents an uncommon technical achievement. Many mics today look similar, with 1" capsules, a mesh head, and a cylindrical body. It is only when you look a little deeper and listen carefully that the major differences become apparent. If there weren't differences, we would all buy $50.00 mics, and be very happy! Many microphones in the same category sell for thousands of dollars. The difference is that the costlier mics are made with the best parts and precision engineered. While these mics are superb, their smaller production volume makes them expensive. They're hand assembled with parts bought in small quantities

RDE has changed the industry by pioneering high quality volume production, investing in more design and tooling using the very finest components and capsules. RDE still offers the NT2-A at a price that would be impossible using older techniques and technologies.

Designed and manufactured at RDE's new $10,000,000.00 facility in Sydney, the NT2-A incorporates the latest innovations in transducer design, coupled to RDE's surface mount electronics, offering pure signal quality and the lowest noise levels of any microphones with the same features. RDE is so proud of the NT2-A that they now offer a full 10-year parts And labor guarantee.

Requires phantom power.

Ordered from Musicians Friend on Thurs, arrived on Tues, recorded with it on Weds. Have a box full of Shures but wanted a large diaphram, multi-pattern condenser for vocals in my home studio, and bought the Rode after tons of research & reviews. Recorded the wife and we were very impressed with the results. A noticeable improvement over her Beta 87, which is no slouch mic. Plus Rode sweetened the deal with their $1 mic offer. Can't wait to try it on acoustic instruments and the omni pattern in the midst of a group vocal. Get a pop filter as these mics are VERY sensitive to plosives.

Performs flawlessly!

I own 3 NT2-As and they perform flawlessly; they just do the job transparently. I use them for stereo recordings (Blumlein, etc.), for close miking of acoustic guitar, bass cabinet, and vocals. I'm running them through ultra high end cables and an Apogee Ensemble. Never once have I listened to the playback and thought "that's not how I hoped it would sound." Instead they are very flattering for all sound sources. The switchability means that I can reduce sensitivity or cut out the bottom end to eliminate boominess on the acoustic's neck mic or on the bass cabinet. I also like using the omni pattern with vocals to give a more transparent sound. Obviously stereo recording would not be possible without the switchable pattern. I had been in the market for a tube condenser but finances dictated a solid state. I haven't been disappointed at all with the NT2-A. Solid quality! I doubt you'll be disappointed.

How can it be? A microphone that at first cost only 699$ sounded as good as some other microphones that cost more than 1000$? It is so warm and can do so much! Sounds great on both male and female. Instruments sound so real throught this and it's also perfect for capturing ambient noises, which add that crisp effect to some songs. It is cheap and powerful. One day rode will be boxing neumann for the title of the best microphone producting company, I assure you. Buy this, buy this, and don't look back! Helped in music and voice-acting.

We use this microphone in a bluegrass/folk application for up to 5 musicisans. We make use of the cardioid pattern which picks up our voices and collective instruments (guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle. It's effective, simple and sounds great.

The NT-2a is the best value I have ever seen! the clarity and warmth is great. It has excellent feedback rejection for live applications. One thing to note; they seem to have a bit of a hotspot around the 500hz range but that shouldn't be a problem for anyone who knows what they are doing.
