Great Mic

Rode does not have the same "name" recognition of Neumann. However, the NTK performs unbelievably well. Depending on the singer behind the mic, the Rode NTK can result in better vocals tracks than the Neumann U87. It sounds incredible. You can record professional vocal tracks. It is a quiet and warm sounding microphone. Buy it today. You will not regret it.

Over the years, I have worked with some very well know high end mics in various studios, and I have a very nice mic collection, some of the industry standards for recording; I have been getting very good results, but when I plugged the NTK in, I couldn't believe what I was hearing! My pair of AKG 414's picked up the room nicely, but the Rode sounded like I was in the room.. unbelievable! On top of hearing every nuance, there was a warmth, spark and clarity that one would expect from a 5 - 10K range mic, like a U87 or C12. I put it in fromt of a saxophone & flute in an open room during a rehearsal, and during playback, I was wondering how the drums got into the studio monitor returns, and why they sounded so good; after a moment I realized it was the bleed into the NTK that I was hearing. It picked up the natural drum kit sound from 12 feet away, and added a richness and sparkle that my other mikes never could acheive. Oh, and the saxophone sounded much more warm and exciting than our previous favorite, which was a 414 and EV RE20 combo. Rode has managed to bring the kind of rich studio sound to the most budget minded recording enthusiast. Well done! If you need one 'go to' condensor mic, I highly recommend the Rode NTK; great for vocals, guitar, winds, drum overheads, you name it.. Can't wait to get a second, so I have a stereo pair.

Ok, this mic is amazing, great mic for almost any application, Room mic, guitars, even Drum overheads! Don't believe me? Just listen to NickelBacks's Cds. You dont have to like em, but you know thier recordings are amazing. this mic was used for overheads on the albums and for vocals, awesome mic, awesome price!

I own the R0DE NTK and it is a dream. Especially for me, I currently run the output XLR to a 1/4 adapter and then directly into my computer, and spite my Free recording software and many adapters this microphone is the cleanest I have ever heard. This is the only microphone you need for writing your own folk tunes!
