The Radial JDX Reactor is a direct box designed to capture the explosive dynamics and warm tone of the electric guitar by connecting between the head and cabinet of a guitar amplifier to provide a direct feed to the PA or recording system.

100% discrete class-A circuitry, multistage filtering and a unique reactive load all interact with the signal coming from the head and the electromagnetic back impulse from the cabinet to produce a more realistic rendering.

In use, the Radial JDX di box improves the consistency of the guitar signal over a typical microphone, as irregularities of mic placement and varying acoustics no longer play the dominant role on stage. When combined with a microphone, fatter tones can be created by double tracking and stereo imaging the two signals for more "produced" results.

Radial JDX Reactor Guitar Amp and Cabinet Direct Box Features:

  • Guitar amplifier direct box with reactive load
  • Speaker cabinet emulation for natural tone
  • Direct feed to console eliminates need for a mic
  • Ideal for recording and live performance
  • 3-year transferable warranty

Used SM57s for years, but while in the studio I tried out my producer's passive Palmer DI. The idea of a DI that could take the load of a "speaker out" was new to me, but I loved how it captured the girth of the power tube section of a head. I intended to get one, but then found that Radial made the JDX, essentially an active version of the Palmer. Got it, fell in love, intend to order a second one! You just can't beat how it captures the power tube secton of the head without the hassle of mic'ing a cab (bumps, shifts, stage noise, etc.). Makes recording SUPER EASY as well!

i just received the jdx today so i have not tested it through all of it's paces yet but i also own a hughes&kettner red box pro.i will say they are each great peices of gear anyone who tells you that speaker simulator mess up your tone does not have a clue!the jdx wins i will say because i literly can't hear the difference between my dr.z z-best 2-12 cab.and it also it's made better the red box has some cheap switches on it. but other than that it is also very cool.plus it does not need a power supply the red box is slightly noisier but not bad and the sound is a little different than my cab but still full sounding.mics are great when there great but there are so many varibles but not with the speaker simulators.i hope i help in my eval.of this product..it's a great peice of gear...

I was a little skeptical about this item, but I'll never sell it now that I own it. Its un believable how good this thing sounds when combined with a mic'd amp or when recording stereo guitar tracks with different levels of gain. I personally love to combine it with Guitar Rig 2 and use all the different speaker cab and mic emulations it offers. You can really mold some really cool sounds.
