I absolutely love this microphone. Sure it's not the best out there but look at the price tag and you'll know right away why that is. You get what you pay for with this mic and that is a benchmark quality microphone. A different flavor from the ever popular D112 and very different from the growing fame of the Beta 52, which I don't really like too much. To summarize the character of the e602: it's scooped in nature giving a very modern kick sound useful for all types of music, depending on how you position it and all the different variables in miking drums. It's got a massive low end, clean and clear midrange, and very present highs. It's similar in response to a an Audix D6 only it doesn't get quite as clicky in the upper end and it handles the SPLs a bit better. I own two of these mics and use one on kick and one on my floor tom for the money and sound I'm going for I couldn't ask for more. In that sense they are perfect, but as always I know there are better mics and those cost more which is why I didn't give a perfect score. I love Sennheiser products and as always they are my go-to mics. If you're looking for a high quality mic with a different flavor from the normal gang of industry standards this one's well worth a look. Just be sure to get a good cable for it, as with any quality mic, you want a quality send, and although the stand included is good quality the cable isn't. All in all it doesn't take away from the value.

Bennetar and Giraldo's 2005 tour would not have worked without it. After running the FOH console on the 2005 Pat Bennetar/Neil Giraldo tour, I must say I love this mic more and more. I am still a fan of the Audix D-6 and Audio Technica Dual-Eliment kick mic, but for the price, it blows the competition away. I still use an audix D-6 in the studio though.

Ohhh yea, i've used many mics for a kick drum, and this dominates all competition, if you want the awesome thump mixed with the *** kickin attack, this is your mic baby, for any low percussion instrument this mic dominates anything you put in its way.

I can't get this mic to sound as good as everybody else who owns it, says they can. So far on every recording that I've used it, I've had to mix in a triggered kick drum with it to get the sound I like. In a live environment, yes, I love the way it sounds. I guess out of all the mic placements when recording, none of them have sufficed.

This blows away the D-112, especially in club atmospheres. If you are running subwoofers along with your front loaded PA speakers, you will notice a huge difference in presence and power. If you want to FEEL the kick drum as well as hear it, this is the microphone for you.
