This is a great mic for guitar. I never hated the standard sm57, it worked, but it always seemed to change or color my tone/sound. As with most serious guitar players, you work hard to get your tone right. This mic doesn't color my tone at all. It does exactly what I wanted it to do, reproduce my tone with minimum impact on my wallet. Great mic, I would buy another if it were stolen or lost. As far as I'm concerned this is the new standard guitar mic!

I just purchased two of these for my home studio... i recorded both with a e609 and sm57 on the cab.. these mics kill the sm57 so much clearer and wider range... for the price this will really improve the sound of your guitars.. i also recorded my rhodes through one and it sounds amazing!

With so many people looking for a sound other than that from an SM57, but too afraid to part with familiarity, I can't understand why this mic isn't used more often in studio and on stage?

Same frequency range as a 57, but that's where the comparisons end. Higher SPL, hypercardiod pattern, smaller body, and better bass response. I've used this on electric guitar, toms, kick, snare, and stringed instruments such as cello and upright bass. Never dissapoints.

At only a few dollars more than a 57, it's my new go-to dynamic and they resell for under $60. I'll be looking to get a few more.

I run my guitar rig in stereo when playing live for bigger shows. I play a '95 Les Paul Studio into a POD 2.0, through a Velocity 150 stereo power amp into 2 custom made 2x12 cabs with Eminence Texas Heats. I LOVE MY TONE and am very critical about it. I place these mics about 1" from my speakers and run them EQ'd flat into the PA and the sound coming from the PA is exactly like what's coming out of my cabs only louder and bigger! My bass player/sound man owns the mics and we're both pleased as can be with the results. If and when we do shows where production is provided, I'm taking these mics with me for sure!

I used one recently recording my mesa boogie amp and we just draped it over the front. I was amazed at the clear sweet tone it captured with zero hassles. The price is also amazing. I highly recommend it and will be buying one for myself soon.
