These headphones sound great on some music (Classical) and not as great on others (Rock, R&B, Jazz). They have a somewhat soft high end and a somewhat lacking deep bottom end. They are probably very accurate headphones, but they aren't for everyone. If you seek a little more "exciting" sound in your headphones, look elsewhere. I personally prefer accurate headphones, and I own several good pairs of them, but these left me a little cold.

I had high expectation for these headphones based off of all the glowing reviews I've read online. I just got my pair today and have to say I'm pretty underwhelmed so far. Boxy, muffled and lacking anything resembling bottom end. I like accurate headphones, but these things are simply boring to listen too. I also own a pair of Grado SR60's, and blow these Sennheisers away. My Audio Technica ATH-M50's are excellent also. I seriously wasted my money on these HD595's.

Overall, the HD595s are great - these cans offer very little sonic coloration, and in this price-range they probably offer the flattest frequency response. (Bassheads beware; the 595's are so neutral sounding that they might not be the 'phones you're looking for.) My only misgiving with these cans is that frequencies above 2,2khz seem a little bit piercing - some folks claim that they are more "open" or "forward" sounding than the 555 and 600 Senns, but I find that the high-end is a bit too much... That being said however, if Sennheiser found a way to abate the 595's top end, these phones would probably sound on par to the HD650s. -Great for audiophile listening, sound editing and mixing; however being open-back phones, they are not recommended for street use or studio monitoring.
