Kick Thunder

I have been a drummer for 35 years. For the last 20 I have played venues where drum mic's were necessary. I have used 58's, SM-57's, AKG various, etc. literally dozens of pro mic's. In addition, I have tried several head combinations and tuning but failed to get the deep tight sound I desired. This past 2008 fall, our band played a multi band show with sound ran by a pro sound company. They simply placed this amazing mic in my base drum and a 1 minute sound check and the best kick sound from my kit I ever achieved. I will be saving back money and 2009 will find this product in my mic set-up. This mic really punches up the band sound.

Best live kick mic ever!

I worked for a live production company for a couple years and this was the best kick mic ever. Unfortunately though, most of the bands we set up for were stuck on using the Beta 52. So the few times I got to hear it were great. I got to use it for a couple shows on my kit too. The first time I used it, we had the B52 setup and my boss suggested we try the 91...what a huge noticeable difference in sound! The only downfall is that it sounds great with great sounding kick drums and not so great with not so great sounding kick drums.

Thunder Kick

This is the mic sound I have searched for over 15 years to get out of a kick drum! I do not put it inside of the kick drum! I suspend it on the outside of the sound hole where my beta 52 used to be!!! It is very balanced and I no longer need to eq the track to make it fit in the mix. It is already just PERFECT and ready to go. The attack and thump are perfectly balanced due to the placement of the mic outside the kick. If you want more attack and less thump putting it inside will acheive that sound as well. I record hard rock to metal and it way exceeds my needs!!! Great for recording or live applications!

Yes Didgeridoo, I now use this great Mic for live performances when playing Yadaki/Didgeridoo, used one this week infront of a 30,000 plus croud and the sound was great [also thanks to a team of good sound techs which are hard to find, Didge is not easy to balance], I said don't extend the sub bass, emphersise the harmonics, and keep the EQ flat, and loose that reverb you had on the sound check, and they did and the sound was awsome. I am very happy with this mic.

Working with a limited budget I need...

Working with a limited budget I need mics. that are both durable and versitle. The 91 is a mic. that fullfills both of those requirements.I also like to use the 91 on a pillow inside the kick and use a B52 in the sound hole , it has great attack and if I use it by itself for country which does not require that super low end I can EQ it anyway I wish. Audio people who have come in our facility love it, I would highly recomend the 91 for your " kick drum" needs.
