IThis is the second SHURE product that I have purchased. I am an aerobics instructor and needed a system that could handle the sweat, etc. Well, with this system, I have had to return it to SHURE for repair 4 times while still under warranty. Theri service department was great; however, when it was returned to me, the problem still exsisted. I spoke with the manager of service and requested a new replacement. He accommodated my request. For that reason, I will stick with SHURE products and hope that the new one works better.

Always respecting the Shure name in microphones I looked forward to this purchase. It ended up being a disappointment for me.

I am a karaoke host, also a stage singer, and needed (particularly for karaoke) a hands free environment. On the surface this is a nice unit, well packaged and has plenty of the needed features.

My main problem was with the sound quality.

No matter how I tinkered with it, the quality lacked depth and richness. some problems with feedback also.

I found myself always going back to my Pro 2 handheld wireless mic system whenever I sang. The Shure was fine for announcing, which hosts do plenty of, but I was embarrassed to sing with it.

Another minor problem was with the on/standby button. I would prefer a switch that gives you a tactile feel for whether you are on the air or not. The button has no way of giving you this feedback. I was forever making off air comments that got broadcast to my entire surroundings. Or starting a song thinking I was live when I was on standby.

Another minor problem were the small, flimsy windscreens which kept falling off.

In the end I had to return this system and am currently looking for an under $500 system that will correct these problems.

The Shure Gear system would be fine for non music announcement duty.

My fiance purchased this for me last christmas. I have since played dozens of shows, indoors and outdoors with my band over the last year. It has worked flawlessly. I play the drums and its like its not even on your head. I would recommend it to anyone.

This mic will lead to lots of frustration, simply put. There are only 3 gain settings and none of them really give you what you want. The setting for vocals is way too hot. However, the -10 db setting that it tells you to use when too hot leads to not getting enough signal at all. Because of this, I wound up using the the 0 setting, which isn't suggested at all, but keeps the sound guys from complaining too much.

No matter how you slice it, setting this mic up for quality sound is a pain. My logic at the time lead to buying it because I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a headset that I wasn't going to use very much. Looking back, I realize now that I should have put a few more bucks in and gotten something better. You get what you pay for.

I'll be happy to continue using my SM-86 and will gladly sell this thing.
