I started with the E2 which was ok. Then bought the E3 which fit better and sounded good but my voice always sounded like I was singing with my fingers in my ears. When I stepped up to these it made all the difference in the world. You can hear your "T"s and "S"s.The bendable wire at the ear makes it stay in place. I play electric and acoustic thru a guitar processor directly into a board. I was looking for a decent representation and these come really close. I wish I had bought these first but I shied away from the price. Sounds great with both of them in your ears.

I'm the Band Director at my church and for the past year and a half have used the SLC1's (the one's that came with my wireless), which basically just got me by. I don't know what I was waiting on... These things are AMAZING. Our Worship Pastor uses Ultimate Ear custom molds and I got to say there's not much difference in sound quality. On my SCL1's I had an equalizer boosting all the mids and lows while drastically cutting the high end. I plugged these in, set all bands to 0 and it's PERFECT. I may work with it a little to get it exact but there's almost no need.

The clarity and low end [frequencies] are astounding (for in-ears). If you're expecting to get the same low end you get from an over-the-ear application, you're in the wrong place. They produce audible low end, not "boomy" low end, if that makes sense.

I had two main reasons for upgrading: 1. I had never had bass guitar in my mix and 2. I recently upgraded to the pod x3 live and wanted to hear the actual capabilities of it. The patches I had created sounded really nice through the house but not so great in the 1's. I came to the conclusion I needed to get in ears that could reproduce the sound my pod was creating. And I was right. I can hear EVERY single dynamic! Truly incredible. Oh, and I can FINALLY hear bass. Very clearly.

I like my mix to sound almost exactly as if I wasn't wearing in-ears (with the exception of boosting the level of my guitar). This thing does exactly what I've been wanting all these years of playing.

Also sounds pretty good in an MP3 player. I hear a lot of ambient noises and such on songs that I've never been able to hear before. All the accessory ear buds are super comfortable. I've been switching buds every service to see which ones I like best. So far it's the black foam ones.

I also LOVE how the things fit and look in my ears. Clear application with clear wiring (Unlike the M-Audio IE-40's). I've heard the IE-40's (our worship pastor bought those before his Ultimate Ears) and honestly the SCL5's sound better. More realistic, punchier mids, WAY more comfortable, better looking, and thicker wiring. Get these. The M-Audio one's are just so ugly in my opinion. Haha.

You could say I'm satisfied with my purchase :)

ears monitors help

As a long time drummer, recently I decided to try the ear monitors. As per my thoughts I checked in to types and cost, spoke to many musician's, and came up with, "EITHER YOU LIKE THEM OR YOU DON'T" After playing for more than 20 years I am now a believer of these. Yes, you have to get used to them, but the sweat is not a problem, many types of fittings are available, try them at practice before the gig, run them through a mixer get the vocals right and balance of the band and your ears WON'T RING at the end of the night. It is great not to hear the resounace of the bars walls. Buy a good quality with drivers, don't be cheap here! They are graet to use with the stereo, also I-pods will sound great. I now don't have to lug the extra monitor around and that's good just in itself. When you think to try them give them a good work out, I mean wear them for a whole practice, don't judge in 5 -10 minutes . Pete

AMAZING!!! A MUST FOR LIVE MONITORING

I used these in ears quit a few times and I have to say the have never let me down. The bass is incredible. It has tight bass and a farely reasonable amount of sub bass(enough for bass player with those real low b sub sounds). The mids are really smooth(its not blaring but its also not lacking any of it) the high are produced very well. Produces the attack(around 5khz) nicely. Its very pricey but considering the quality and the advantage of no feedback from stupid monitors live, its great. Its like having the intiment feeling of a album recording but the energy of a live show.
