the mic sounds fine, it's great. that's not the reason i'm writing this review though. No one should even haver to read a review of this thing it's so widely known for it's quality. I'm here to give you an example of how durable it is. I was drumming today and i accidently hit my 57 micing my snare. the little cap on the end broke clean off. so, i duct taped it on and then recorded some stuff. NO PROBLEMS. no crackle or feedback, sounds perfect. that's why I'm giving this a 4 for features because the cap on the end can easily be broken off. If it does just tape it back on and it's fine. I'd recommend taping them before hand so they don't come off in the first place

great mic for guitars, bass or even drums. For vocals I would recommend an SM 58. With the SM 57 you have to be literally glued right in front of the mic and can be a real pain live while having to sing into it. Oh, and another thing - this mic is pretty much indestructible ;-)

Every studio should have at least one. You can go into the most high dollar recording studio you can find, and %90 of the time you're gonna see one of these bad boys on the guitar cab. Built like a tank too.

This mic is about the most perfect mic you can get. I've mostly been using it as a vocal mic along with my SM58, but if I get bored of that I've mic'd my acoustic, my ukelele, and I recently set it up to mic a small bass amp through my PA. The sound quality is amazing and the build quality I would trust to stop a bullet. If there is one mic you want, it's this or the SM58. Hands down.
